“The car is in over-all good condition. The body and frame are original and has been well cared for in the 10 years I've owned it. It was purchased from a retired mechanic who's wife wanted a classic car to drive, but refused to learn manual transmission. He adapted the rugged Chrysler 318 engine and automatic transmission from a 1988 Chrysler Fifth Avenue for this car and added all the updated features mentioned. The interior is practically new... reupholstered with, "the last remaining bolt of original 1948 material." When I bought the car it was bronze and vanilla colored. I painted it yellow for parades on the Boardwalk as a taxicab and recently painted it Rhapsody blue to compliment the interior tan. The engine is reliable, the transmission is smooth, the brakes are smooth and the tires only have a few thousand miles wear on them. The engine temp stays steady even in August heat, crawling behind a marching band.” |

Vehicle description
1948 Chrysler Royal with restored interior and upgraded engine, trans and accessories. Looks original, drives on the bullet-proof Chrysler 318 from an "88 Fifth Avenue. Automatic transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, power front windows, modern radio (original works too), cruise control, A/C. Modified by a retired mechanic for his wife to drive. Perfect for parades, photo shoots, special events and just getting some attention. The interior was entirely reupholstered. The front windows were converted to electric. Vehicle starts every time and will cruise at 70 on the highway. Because it"s a more modern engine, parts are readily available anywhere. Lots of tread left on the wide whitewall tires. This car is not a show winner. . it"s a hobby car ready for the road and she looks good doing it. Garage kept since rebuilt 15,000 miles ago. Rear windows are stationary. Four louvered windows and dash vent. A/C blows hot. Tight front end. The engine bay is dry and the car is as straight as a 72 year automobile can be. Happy to answer questions.
