Vehicle description
This is a John Deere Gator that I purchased new in 1994-1995 for my father for Father"s Day. He drove it around his house with his little dog and really enjoyed it. When he passed away several years later, I sold the Gator to man in Selma who was CEO of a large apparel company. Several years ago I heard that this man and his wife were downsizing and moving. I contacted him about buying the Gator back. He called me some months later and I ended up purchasing the Gator from him. So, I guess it has had two owners if you count me once.
The Gator has an gasoline air cooled engine and locking differential. It will come with the original owner"s manual and one ignition key. There is no hour meter.
When I got the Gator back, I noticed that one of the boots on the front end was torn. So, I made a boot to cover the torn boot and another boot for the other side so they would match.
Also, each rear fender has a crack that you can see in the pictures. There is also some rust on the side of the bed. The parking brake is a little difficult to release. It may need some lubricant or adjustment. I have been just turning the ignition switch off and them putting it in gear to keep it from rolling. Sometimes I also use a wheel chock.
The fuel gauge doesn"t work. It shows full regardless of the fuel level.
When I got the Gator back, I also replaced the front fenders and installed the black brush guard that you see in the pictures. The original fenders were faded and one had a crack in it. It did not have a brush guard on it when I purchased it or when I got it back. The fenders and brush guard I put on are original John Deere parts. Last year I replaced the fuel pump with an original equipment pump. It is somewhat surprising that you can still purchase original John Deere parts for these.
I really didn"t need the Gator when I bought it back, but it had such sentimental value that I just could not pass up the chance to get it back. I never use it and I don"t have room for it.
The Gator runs great and is lots of fun to use around the yard.
