VINTAGE GT1/TA CORVETTE WORK- IN- PROGRESS PROJECT ROLLER
Early TransAm/ GT1 car. Built late 60"s, early 70"s. No logbook or race history that I know of. No engine or transmission. I bought it as a roller two years ago when I was bored and looking for a new project. This was to be my last race car. C2 frame, coil-over stock car front clip, a full cage, a C3 diff and a custom rear coil-over independent suspension with C4 modified hubs., QA1 adjustable shocks all around, Sweet power rack, NASCAR dry sump setup, dual oil filters, oil cooler, C4 fiberglass ACP wide body. All body components removeable. The ability to remove body panels and get at things really sold me. For the last two years I’ve been cleaning, repairing, replacing, re-engineering and rebuilding. I had the diff rebuilt with a new 3.36 ring and pinion, new posi, added new rear hubs, discs and calipers. I had Wilwood rebuild the six piston front calipers, installed new NASCAR front rotors. I had Sweet rebuild the power rack and servo, replaced hydraulic and oil lines, installed a new 22 gallon fuel cell, fire suppression set-up and new aluminum wheels. Fourteen inch wide TransAm wheels and slicks in back and 27x10 slicks up front. I hoped to get the car on the track this year, but in May I had a heart attack and haven"t had the stamina or motivation to work on the the car since. With the heart condition I can"t pass the physical to club or SCCA race so I"m selling my cars. My next step was to install an engine and a transmission then go thru the suspension, e.g., alignment, spring settings, height adjustments, rebuild the shocks if necessary, brake balance, break in the new diff etc., etc. There"s obviously work to be done before it"s track ready, but at 80 I have frankly run out of gas so I’m ready to hand this project off to a younger, more energetic guy. Happy to answer any questions. Good looking 50-50 rule car. Body in excellent shape. As indicated, lots of new or rebuilt parts. Good opportunity to get into vintage racing on a budget.
