Vehicle description
I am selling my beloved 1970 El Dorado slide-in truck camper named Gidget. After successfully living in her for a year, I am ready to move on to something a little bigger. It is currently covered with a massive tarp to protect it from the weather. All original hardware on cabinets and drawers. The countertop in the kitchen and at the vanity sink are in great condition. I replaced the flooring with vinyl flooring that looks like dark wood.Structurally, I replaced more than half of the studs with pressure-treated wood and replaced most of the insulation. I reinforced a lot of areas with extra wood (like where the new jacks were installed). I replaced the 2 ceiling vents with brand new Fantastic Fans - the one in the bedroom area has a remote control and a rain sensor. I have to be honest, the camper could really use a paint job on the outside, and there is one corner on the outside that needs a bit of repair.I have made a lot of nice updates to the camper, but it might not be for everyone. I removed the 50-year-old propane furnace, water heat and water pump. So the only running water you would have is if you hooked up a hose to the port on the outside, and then you would have water only to the kitchen and bedroom vanity area sink (not currently hooked up to shower). There are tanks in there but I have no idea what condition they are in - never even looked. The plumbing that is in place looks relatively new, however. I left a little hatch in the wall so it would be easy to attach shower plumbing.I removed the toilet it came with and used a portable camping toilet and camping shower. I was lucky to have electric power while I lived in it, so I installed a window unit air conditioner and sometimes used a little ceramic heater. But. .I mostly used the wood-burning stove that I installed! It is a Cubic Mini Woodstove. Because of the woodstove, the dinette area cannot be converted to a full-sized bed, but a kid could sleep on the bench there pretty comfortably. The bedroom area holds a full-sized bed, with a foot of room to spare on one end.I painted the entire inside white and made curtains for all the windows. I didn"t use propane at all so never used the stove and fridge. I do know that the fridge did NOT work when connected to shore power. I used it as a pantry. I used an IceCo refrigerator (looks like a cooler) which worked well, and can work on 12V or A/C.The jacks are brand new (Rieco Titan), as are the jack stands. The camper tie-downs are included, and literally only made one trip. Also included are 2 different types of camping showers, a camping pop-up shower/bathroom tent, huge heavy-duty tarp (covering it now), new ceiling LED lights, solar system (150W, one battery), all new outside/travel lights. So one might want to buy this beauty with all her character to use as-is (semi off-grid), or fix her up a bit more. Or you might decide to sell off the new jacks, woodstove, fans, vintage appliances, etc., and then maybe even sell the shell, and make some profit!
