AWESOME ADVENTURE VAN!
Looking for the perfect van that has it all but doesn"t cost 150k? Check this bad boy out- Here"s why its so damn rad:
Grumman aluminum body and I cant find a dent or bend in it. It"s super clean and ready for some cool mountain graphics, etc on side- but best of all, and don"t underestimate the value in this- it"s all Aluminum! So it will never rust on you and it will look the same in 25 years as it does today- that goes for the styling too! It will look just as cool downt the road as it does today. Plus it"s super strong and lighter than steel.
I purchased this van on Ebay from the gentleman who custom built it last year for a steal at only $12,500 in Seattle and drove it back to Texas on an epic trip with my nephew back to Texas. Since then it"s had some serious upgrades, here"s the list:
Complete Tune up.
All new custom made Oil hoses. Added an oil cooler (just to be safe as it gets hot here) Brand new Dometic "Brisk 2" 13,500 byt A/C unit and controller (because. . it gets hot here lol) All new 50 AMP service ad shore power. (from 30) Remote controlled air bag suspension on rear. Adjustable Air ride shocks added to front. (these two expensive additions make handling substantially more safe and comfortable). Heat shroud around starter and gap added between starter and exhaust.
Engine bay heat shield reinforcement. Two new Batteries.
These additions were well over 13k.
I purchased the van one month before covid; Since then I"ve only driven it to the shops that did the renovations and one trip locally. The most recent thing I did was the carburetor rebuild and engine tune up including all new plugs etc.
Other Fantastic features features:
Original builder was a carpenter by trade, all of the wood is sold birch, strong and light. its completely wired for USB and Electric in all bunks, including lighting. It"s super cozy to sleep in, I say this every time I"m in it (actually crashed in it during the big texas power outage) - bunks can easily sleep tall people.
Has four bunks (although I always use the top bunks for storage and double cushion the bottom). Top bunks fold up so you can use bottom as bench seat when setting up the dining table that drops in floor. Tons of storage space and easy access to all the electrical systems in and out. Built in bluetooth stereo. Rearview camera and garmin GPS. Towing hitch. Big rear step/deck with a great aluminum ladder. Wood top deck with load spread and toy carrying brackets/ storage box (you can totally have a picnic up there or stargaze) Large fully functioning electric awning that does not require legs (its beefy). Dually! (trust me, makes all the difference on highway, or in sand, snow etc). Tires are around 90% still. Did I mention AIR RIDE? Easy to service Chevy 350 small block- I even considered a direct swap LS crate. Very common work van so parts are always available.
Glides down a flat highway at 70 no problem. Very easy to drive with power steering, perfect brakes, working gauges, and large windows. The restroom has a full size toilet and ROOM TO USE IT!
Onboard water system, sink and microwave. Brand new folding passenger jump seat.
Relatively low mileage (113K) NO mold. No mold smell.
Windows can be opened and closed with screens built in and curtains.
Wrap around privacy curtain in front. Vinyl floor. Clean Tx Title as RV.
Current registration and insurance (insurance not transferable)
Looks like a swat van so when you"re boondocking noone messes with you.
So this is van that will last for generations if maintained properly and there even room to further improve on it! The things that need improvement (it"s not perfect- that"s why its not 150k) I removed the fridge and storage in passenger area to put up new wood walls and a jump seat that I could put my Toddlers chair on. that area is open to whatever you would want to do with it, ir you can leave it as it is- i"ll also throw in the wood to finish it out, juts put it up with some grey paint and voila!
Windshield wipers work but need repair, fairly simple, something any shop can do or you could do. I think its a wiper motor swap. driver door holds a bit of water after rain but drains out when van moves- no water goes into the interior.
I"m told the Winch works fine but I"ve never tried to use it.
The old AC may be broken, i would just remove it (its a little wall unit) and use the space as a pass thru or storage- it isnt needed anyway since it has a brand new unit on roof now. Shifting column a little wiggly but works just fine.
NOTE: van does NOT come with Bike rack, bikes, or any personal items inside.
Van is located in Austin and I"ll give tour by appointment. Van is sold as is, no trades. Ask questions now but I think I have in good faith covered everything. I wouldn"t have any reluctance in stating you should be able to drive this van back across country if necessary- I drove it across the country before mechanical upgrades.
Feel free to ask any questions, I may make a video walk around and/or drone footage soon.
