Vehicle description
1966 TR4A with overdrive trans and independent rear suspension. Color is Conifer Green. Purchased new at Standard Triumph in New York City October 1965 and prepped for SCCA competition shortly after. Raced SCCA D/P at Lime Rock Park (CT), Bridgehampton (NY), Thompson Speedway (CT) and Marlboro Motor Raceway (MD) from 1966-69. Became a street car after 1969. Was never a rusty car. I am the 2nd owner. Now road registered.
Body-off frame rotisserie restoration by Lee Chapman-GMT Racing between 2014-2017. Mileage on the odometer is 97,500 but only 1,123 miles since the restoration and rebuild. Runs and drives great.
Engine built by Peter Marcovicci at MWE in NY. Engine has new 86mm JE pistons and new liners, ported head, larger S/S valves, hotter cam, twin Weber 40s, hi torque starter, lightened steel flywheel, new competition clutch and new aluminum radiator. I"d call the engine fast road, rally or entry level vintage race spec yet runs on pump fuel. The overdrive trans was rebuilt as was rear end with a limited slip diff added. Brakes incl the master cylinders are new. New stainless steel dual exhaust. The original tube header has been jet hot coated black. The original front KONIs were rebuilt by KONI. Original roll bar still in car.
New wood dash. New custom made fabric top. New top cover with white beading. New custom made leather seats, new carpet and interior panels. New 15" x 6" Silverstone II wheels and new Dunlop tires with matching spare. Hermosa Retro radio with AM-FM Bluetooth was added with speakers in a box behind seats. The original Ray Brown racing belts are still in the car from 1966. Large file of receipts. Original Triumph workshop manual. Restoration photos come with the car. The white roundels and race numbers are magnetic and come off easily.
Extras: Original Triumph competition dept front and rear sway bars. Original AM radio. Bumpers that need restoration. (Note: The dash event plates shown in photos are not included with the car. They were kept by the original owner)
