Vehicle description
I am offering for sale my hand built formula car. Car was built to FS rules for SCCA racing. It has competed in Special 2 and AM at many events in the northeast and mid-Atlantic. Designed primarily as a hill climb car, it has nearly 2 full log books of competition. Fast car for autocross. Needs a new driver as back injury has hurt my ability to drive.
Car is a hand built chassis with all aluminum body panels. It is powered by a closed-deck EJ22T turbo engine that was fully built last year, bored .030" over. It has forged pistons, forged rods, race bearings, new crank. It runs EJ20 heads from an "04 WRX with STI cams. Turbo is an TD05-16g, 750cc injectors. 280 lpm in cell fuel pump with adjustable pressure regulator. STI intercooler, Custom intake and exhaust. Sounds just like a WRX. Wide band sensor. Have many spare parts available to go with this.
Car weighs about 1600#. Has 298HP and 300TQ with a very conservative tune for reliability. Engine management is via a MegaSquirt Plug-n-play WRX ECU. Uses factory wiring harnesses for easy replacement and reliability. All parts are readily available. Front suspension is Camaro uprights with dirt track style suspension components and QA1 coil-overs. Rear suspension uses SVX spindles with QA1 cantilevered coil-overs and rod end suspension.
The transmission is a standard WRX 5-speed. I also have a Quiafe differential not currently installed. It uses a spool to lock out the transfer case section and powers the rear wheels via the front wheel drive outputs. New OEM clutch. Driveshaft is from an XT6 Subaru. All parts are rather inexpensive and readily available if needed. New belts last year. Has 2 sets of wheels. Hoosier Autocross A7s in 275/40-17 and 315/35-17 for autocross, and Hoosier Full race slicks in 15 x 10 front and 15 x 14 rear for track events. New battery this past spring.
Fuel cell is an 8-gallon ATL sport cell. Radiators are for a Honda Civic. Interior cockpit is very adjustable with a very comfortable Kirkey 15-1/2" Intermediate Road Race seat with bar brace, mounted on tracks and risers. Cockpit is very roomy for a large person and up to 6"6 tall. Seating position is very upright. Adjustable balance Wilwood pedals. Cage and chassis are all 1/8" mild steel. Car was overbuilt for hill climb series and can probably easily drop 200# or more. Aero works well and has significant down-force. Extensions can be removed easily to drop it back to a more conventional looking formula car as seen in some pictures for high speed events. Car is smooth at 140 mph.
Car is located near Wilkes-Barre PA. I can work with buyer on delivery if needed.
