Vehicle description
1973 914 Porsche raced for more than 25 years in SCCA E Production class. Never wrecked. Rules did not allow us to run a 2-liter, but did allow us some leeway in bore and stroke so engine enlarged to just below 2-liter. Rules allowed for rim 1.5 inches over stock, so comes with 15 x 7 wheels and tires. Hubs drilled for 911 - 5 bolt pattern. Comes with fiberglass flares, Fuel Safe Fuel cell, Accusump, fire system, Kirkey race seat. Cage built by a NASCAR frame fabricator and is tied into shock towers. One of the most rigid 914s you will find today. Comes with original SCCA licensing log books.
Not raced for more than 10 years. Farm accident shattered ankle to force me out of racing. Can no longer withstand the punishment that a race in the summer heat exerts on that ankle. Had kept in hopes son would want to play, but he has no interest and says to let it go to someone who will take it out on the track at speed where it wants to be.
Engine recently brought back to life. Runs strong. Still lot of fun running around farmstead, but lets be honest. .it has been parked for more than 10 years so the belts will need to be replaced, fire system will probably need to be refilled with a now legal extinguishing agent. Tires are more than a decade old, so need to be replaced to be safe. Safety would require a thorough inspection of brakes and all systems to ensure safety.
Comes with spare engine and spare set of wheels and tires. Currently old BF Goodrich Comp TA R1s on car. Old Goodyear Eagle slicks on extra wheels. Goodyear no longer makes tires in this size. Would have to race on Goodrich or Hoosiers.
Perfect for track events, autocross, PCA Vintage or NASA racing. This car deserves better than sitting in the garage. It needs to be out on the track.
