Vehicle description

as always , This is for sale at the race shop, and we will consider reasonable offer to end early
Although it recieved a lot of bids and reached 13,600, it did not meet reserve,
We are re-listing it here starting at $10,000 and with no reserve, including the "56 Pontiac 316 engine, and T5 transmission
We found this vintage Morgan Style road racer many years ago in the hills of Winston Salem North Carolina. Finding the original 1955 V8 engine was stuck, we applied the usual Marvel Oil treatment, and let it sit. Even after a year, then two, we found we still were unable to save the engine, and the car was relegated to the bottom of the restoration list while we searched for a proper replacement engine.
About four years ago, I became more interested in completing the car , when I "discovered" a similar car that had been recently restored by one of AACA"s principals, now in white/red paint and period Olds V8 powered. A new search for an appropriate engine began, and after 3 years, a period correct "56 Pontiac V8 was found in California. Clean as a whistle, this engine had been rebuilt just a few years earlier, and was just replaced by an LS1 conversion, and easily justified the cost of shipping to our shop in North Alabama.
As usual, before we schedule this car for complete restoration for the 2020 Vintage Race Season, and begin accumulating necessary bits, it is offered here, as shown, including the 1956 316 cu.inch engine and correct bellhousing for a GM 4 speed transmission. The original 1955 engine and transmission are JUNK, but are available if wanted, but have NO value.
We have already obtained some items, including two vintage bomber seats, an aluminum flywheel , and a geardrive set for the camshaft, which may be purchased if wanted.
If you have looked the pictures over carefully, you may have noticed the finned alloy Buick brake drums. .
If restored as a Period Correct C/Modified, this will represent individual thinking in US MotorSports during the early days of roadracing, and should be a car fun to own and drive at Vintage Events across the US.
Posted, are two pictures of similar cars from the 50"s
