Original Classic Benroy 1955 Teardrop Trailer Airstream Era Hotrods For

Monterey, California, United States

Vehicle description

I"m putting my baby up for sale! One of only 425 ORIGINAL TRAILERS built by the highly sought after Benroy teardrop company between 1954 and 1956. This teardrop has been fully rebuilt and restored by a professional carpenter and a professional boat builder several years ago. No expense was spared. All the way down to having the entire frame powder coated red. The trailer currently could use a cosmetic revamping, including new white walls, paint and body on the fenders (I have an exceptional show quality painter), and I have started to buff out the trailer. Trailer was rebuilt for a natural disaster, including 1 inch thick marine grade mahogany on the floors and walls, then coated with fiberglass gel coat. The roof was built by a professional builder at a cost of $7500 out of custom fiberglass. The trailer is heavily insulated with nearly 9 inches of foam insulation in the floor/subflooring. A super RARE trailer and a super sweet deal. I wouldn"t be selling the teardrop if I didn"t have to; it"s been a lot of great fun and exciting adventures had in this amazing little gem of a trailer. Email me your contact info (phone number) to come and check her out.Trailer needs many small things such as the fenders need to be repaired and repainted, aluminum needs to be rebuffed, could use new set of whitewall tires and a new mattress, and other small things. The trailer used to have a cowboy theme, with the cowboy print shown as the curtains, however the curtains are long gone.Fenders have dents and damage. The trailer is somewhat of a project, albeit mostly cosmetically at the moment. This is a super cute, super well-built trailer that needs work, mainly cosmetic and finishing things. The LAST photo best represents the current condition of the trailer. Most of the photos included here show the trailer as it looked a couple of years ago, which is not how it looks at this moment. The new owner can buff out the aluminum body, purchase a new pair of white wall tires, and have the fenders painted for under $1,000. With a little work, this is a trailer that is worth $10,000 to $12,000. I am selling this teardrop trailer for less than half of what it cost to restore the trailer and less than half of the $12,000 that the trailer is insured for. It"s an awesome little trailer and it"s a steal at this price. Because all of the materials used in the construction are waterproof, this trailer will never leak or rot, and will last for generations to come. Trailer, when revamped, is worth approximately $12,000. How much work the trailer needs depends upon a person"s skill-set. For a professional carpenter or auto-body man, it would be almost nothing. For someone else, who does not have the know-how, it might be a lot or they might have to pay other people to restore the different areas that need work. I am selling for this price because it will need lots of love. There is no kitchen in the rear and the back does not open up. The rooftop carrier seen in some of the photos is no longer available and is not included in this sale. Buy-Back Guarantee: If you are not completely satisfied with this little trailer, or if you have it for the next 18 months and decide that you have become bored with it, I will gladly buy it back from the buyer at a higher price. In all truth, I would rather not sell the trailer as it has a lot of good memories for me and a lot of sentimental value. Being what it has been, 2020 has been rough for me (as it has for many people) and not the least of which has been the financial impact. So, in short, I wouldn"t be selling the teardrop unless I had to. Hopefully, this too shall pass and in a year or a 18 months, my financial situation will improve. If so, I ask that I have the first right of refusal should the new owner decide to sell the trailer. To Re-iterate, this trailer is a RARE little gem. And right now, it is a (mostly cosmetic) PROJECT. Trailer is able to be towed down the road, however the inside, the outside, and all of the previously mentioned areas will need work. At the same time, this trailer was not a home-built project that was just thrown together haphazardly. This trailer was rebuilt by fine craftsmen, using the best materials for strength, waterproofed, and sound-deadening, built for longevity, warmth, and made to last. When inside, it is a very cozy, warm, quiet, safe place to get some rest. PLEASE SEND ME A MESSAGE WITH ANY QUESTIONS THAT YOU MAY HAVE. I WILL CALL ALL OF THOSE INCLUDING THEIR PHONE NUMBER. THANK YOU. Most of these photos are of two to three years ago. The final photo is what the trailer looks like now. Terms of Sale: Deposit is due immediately after sale, balance due in cash at time of pickup. Full payment expected within 48 hours unless other arrangements are made ahead of time. Thank you.ONLY THE LAST PHOTO SHOWS THE TRAILER IN ITS CURRENT CONDITION. TRAILER IS LOCATED IN CORRALITOS, CA.Most of the photos in this listing are from a few years ago when the trailer was in better shape. Currently, the trailer needs to be buffed out, there are no whitewall tires, the fenders have significant dents and will need significant body work and paint. There is no bedding, the windows need work (one needs a screw, the other needs a new crank assembly). There is no rear galley and the back of the trailer does not open. For those who are seriously interested, you may wish to inspect the trailer ahead of purchasing as all sales are final and as-is. This is an original Benroy teardrop trailer and is titled as such. I am selling the trailer for much less than it"s value, in large part due to it"s current condition and because it needs some work to bring it back to show quality. The trailer is currently functional, tow able, sleep-able, and usable.
