Vehicle description
1985 Neoplan Megaliner Here is a link to quick video of the coach https:/ youtu.be/R9qnfQudRI4 Look at all the pictures and read the listing carefully as you certainly will never see another like it. Built on the chassis of o ne of approx. only 30 of these buses ever imported to the U.S. (see the last picture as to see what these looked like originally). Neoplan is built in Germany and they make many models of passenger buses with the Megaliner (still in production) being the largest. You will most likely never see one here on the road and they are even a bit scarce in Europe where they are used for sightseeing tours. They were imported and sold to NASA in the mid eighties for sightseeing tours of Kennedy Space center. The use of the buses was discontinued in the early nineties and they were all sold. A professional team of an electrical/hydraulic engineer, a draftsman, welder, fabricators, fiberglass builder and helpers were assembled and employed over a period of 6 years to build it to this point. The bus was completely dismantled, the entire body, engine and transmission were discarded and the frame pan and running gear were sand blasted, painted, rebuilt using all new wear and tear items. Then the bus you see in the pictures was designed and built on the frame pan using ALL NEW components. It incorporates many very unique features such as · Double front steering axles (this was on the original bus) that allows increased weight capacity As well as improved handling over single front axle buses. · The rear tag axle steers or casters in the opposite direction of the front axles to allow a very tight turning radius · The tag axle can be retracted as needed in tight maneuvering situations · The rear lower fiberglass cap (engine cover) lifts hydraulically · Driver and co driver doors are air operated with the push of a button · Shower base and place for a toilet and kitchenette in the driver’s compartment as well as a place for bunk beds. · Air brakes and air suspension · HHW air leveling system · It is a double Decker with internal curved staircase and an elevator that goes to the second floor and on thru the roof to the viewing area · The second floor windshield is full view floor to ceiling for incredible views · There are 6 Hydraulic slide outs, 2 in the galley down and 4 upstairs · It has four electric side windows upstairs · The upper rear cap lifts hydraulically to be a roof for the rear deck · A rear semi circle deck unfolds hydraulically with side railings · There is a sliding glass door from the upper rear (bedroom) to the rear deck. · The roof is designed and built to be a viewing platform · There are eight 8 foot long hydraulic cylinders built into the lower walls that are to allow a second roof canopy to rise up. · There are eight more four 4 cylinders that allow a railing to rise up around the roof. · To access both floors and the roof there is an elevator · There is a 2’x4’ lift platform that goes from the second floor thru the roof intended to be used for a wet bar and ice maker. Components and materials used · Square tube steel chassis built from the pan up. · Custom molded fiberglass front and rear caps · Custom fiberglass laminated outer wall panels · Custom made side windows · 6 Hydraulic slides made by HHW · New brakes, drums, brake chambers and air lines · All new steering linkage components · 10 new Continental tires · New smooth side wheel covers (hub caps) · NEW Detroit 60 series 500 h.p. electronic EFI engine · New Allison 6 speed world transmission · New Perkins 62KW turbo diesel 4 cylinder generator on air ride anti vibration mounting · Auto low battery voltage generator starting system · 8 new reverse cycle air conditioning units. · New hydraulic power supply · New custom made Reccaro air seats for the driver and co driver · New side by side refrigerator w ice and water · New 20 gallon water heater · Two 3,000 watt inverters (converts Dc battery to AC power · Power shore power cord reel w 50 amp line cord · LED digital dash board/gauges · LED digital engine function and remote start in engine bay · Programmable Side mounted LED scrolling sign board 6”x18” · Sequential turn signal/running side marker lights · 12 volt and 120 volt electrical distribution systems and wiring · 175 gallon aluminum fuel tank Fresh oil and filters 10/02/19 Coolant flush and new coolant additive cartridge 10/01/19 I have personally driven the bus 500 miles on what was its maiden voyage. It runs strong, handles very well and is easy to drive. The number one problem I had was people mobbing me anyplace I stopped to ask about it, take pictures and video. People will pull up alongside with their window down taking pictures and video, pull off the road in front of it, jump out and get a picture of it, etc, etc. As you can see from the pictures the exterior is in primer and needs paint or a wrap. The interior has most of the electrical in place and needs to be fitted with the interior of your choice. The roof is currently finished in 3/4" plywood and is not permanently waterproof. It will need a waterproof roof covering of some type. Temporarily it is secure and waterproofed with boat shrink wrap. The cap and railings for the observation deck on the roof need to be completed. There is an aluminum framework there mounted to the hydraulic cylinders for it to be built on. This is not a project for the faint of heart or those who lack vision and patience. There have been many thousands of man hours and hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on it to this point. It will take a good amount of time and money to complete it in the manner it was intended. It also will take a pretty good size shop to work on it in and keep it. It is 13’6” tall, 8 ft. wide and 48 ft. long. If you have serious interest in a bus of this magnitude and or have ever dreamed of building and or owning one please look at the pictures carefully, the list of components used and try to estimate the money and time that has gone into this and is already done for you. I have had it in my warehouse teo years and have yet to have time to start this project. I can see i probably never will get to it or get it done in my lifetime so i want to pass it along to someone who can and will. Yes it runs and moves ( read the ad), yes i have a clear title to it. Yes i will consider a trade on a yacht ( 60 ft. & up), a plane, exotic car, real estate I cannot imagine anyone buying this bus without seeing it in person first and i do not expect to sell it here on ebay but rather to generate a lead to someone who would like to have, appreciate and will be able to complete the project. Please call me with questions 26 two call 21 zero me 97 at this number 97 and i will be glad to answer them. I will not respond to long winded messages. If you cannot call you are not that interested. Thank you for looking
