Vehicle description

1982 MCI MC9 Description Detroit 6v92 all mechanical diesel engine
4 spd Allison transmission
All tires 80-90 percent tread. 5 of the tires are new in the last 2 years. The other 3 look almost new but are older, the owner of the bus for the last 15 years kept it in his heated and cooled shop so the tires were not exposed to sunlight except when he was at the races.
This is a highly customized Nascar themed bus personally converted over a 15 year period by the gentleman I bought it from, we are a gospel music band and bought this bus to convert for our use but after I got the bus home and looked at what a nice job he did I can"t bring myself to undo all the work he has done, this bus is really cool and belongs at the racetrack. Almost everything in this bus was custom ordered by him to fit this conversion. From the 2 ten foot long couches in the front to the Alpine sound system he said he had invested approximately $10000 dollars in it. The cabinets in the kitchen and bathroom are hand made out of very heavy oak in an old western style. The Nascar wrap on the outside was professionally done and is incredibly detailed. The viewing deck on top was built using aluminum diamond plate and tongue and groove cedar and features 8 very comfortable swivel chairs. There is a railing along the sides, a very tall flag pole, and a TV with auxiliary speaker system. The unit is powered by an 8500 watt diesel generator(appr. 1700 hours) that has its own 55 gallon fuel tank, it easily runs both a/c units(each also have heat strips), the refrigerator and hot water heater. The bus has a 179 gallon fuel tank and is listed on the dash as being able to safely travel 750 miles between stops. The past owner said it averaged 6-8 mpg depending on what he was pulling. The fresh and waste water tanks were custom made and are between 100-150 gallons. The bathroom has a residential vanity and shower and an rv toilet. There are 6 bunk beds in the back, 4 are twins, 1 is a wide twin and 1 is a double. So counting the couches you can easily sleep 8-9 people. There is also a new king dome satellite installed on the roof. The kitchen stove and oven are propane. He bought the largest propane tank available and it was just filled. Each year he took this bus to the spring and fall races at Bristol, Talladega, Charlotte, Indy, Daytona and the Kansas Speedway, he got to know many of the drivers and this bus was signed above the entry door by Troy Landry, Austin Dillon and a couple others. I drove the bus from Arkansas to Mid Missouri, it was a 5 1/2 hour drive and I had no issues.
He just had the engine and generator serviced and the engine oil was still surprisingly clean after a 5.5 hour trip. He also told me that he had it taken to Freightliner and they did a 3 axle alignment on it, he said that they replaced all the worn bushings at that time. He had recently had one of the wheels pulled and the brakes inspected and they told him everything looked good. The only flaws I noticed was the back bumper was drug and bent some going through a low intersection and at very low speeds when stopping I sometimes heard a rattle on the drivers side front. The bus drives very tight and performs like I would expect a 40 year old bus to. He estimated that he has about $100,000 invested in the bus which sounds like a lot until you start customizing a bus. Please watch the video of the bus that we made if you are interested in it, there is a lot of information in it that I am sure I have forgotten here. You are welcome to come drive the bus and inspect it for yourself, in fact I would encourage that.
