Vehicle description
Early 1941 GMC K18-C Communications truck. This is a VERY RARE VEHICLE. Google or WIKIPEDIA it to see how rare.
Basically, in 1941 the Army Signal Corp knew we were about to go to war without reliable mobile Military Communications so they decided to use what was available "off the shelf". This is a two wheel drive one and a half ton truck converted into a "signal van" and was used in conjunction with a trailer, (which I"ve only seen pictures of) and is shown above.
The good: This truck has good paint (WWII OD), glass, nearly impossible to find front grill (hand made), new canvass seats, engine is completely rebuild GMC 302 (the original 218 was cracked), new exhaust, new tires, new interior, new wooden floors, runs, drives and stops as it should. I will also include the radios shown which are period correct for this truck (working condition unknown as I have no way to check them). In addition, I will include a generator (period correct) which I think would actually work but I haven"t tried it so I"m just throwing it in as is.
The bad. The truck will only go about 45 miles per hour wide open and the speedometer bounces back and forth! Also, there is no AC or power steering but it still steers well! LOL.
