Vehicle description
Military 1986 M1031 CUCV Shop Maintenance Truck w/ Diesel Generator Very nice running 1986 M1031 1 ¼ ton with 44K miles. Dana 60 front differential, Detroit 14 bolt lockers in the rear with a NP205 gear drive transfer case and 456 gears. On board 12 KW generator, air compressor with holding tank and American made Yost vice attached to the tail gate. It has the tried and true 6.2 GM diesel engine. Not built for speed but reliability, and it will get you there if you keep the fuel system clean. It"s slow, and kind of runs like a turtle but you probably know the story of the tortoise and the hare. Picked this truck up in northern California from a military base. The undercarriage appears to have been undercoated and is in nice condition. The body is basically rust free with clean floor boards, fenders, cab corners and doors. The shop body is made of aluminum.
I"ve had this truck for about 7 years and addressed the mechanical weak links and upgraded. The factory pot metal fuel filter housing had a tendency to crack so I totally replaced it with a GM type Raycor 6.5 diesel filtration system. The glow plug controller was removed and replaced with a 50 amp manual push button switch with solenoid. In colder operations from -10° below to 45° F you turn the ignition on, push and hold the manual button for 15 seconds and start. Starts first time every time. The batteries are 950 amp hour group 31 AGM"s with a custom battery hold down that is built to last. Other work done: rebuilt injection pump, glow plugs, fuel pump, water pump, thermostat, starter, belts, hoses, new OEM Delphi injectors/ not rebuilds" or the Chinese knock offs, u-joints for the front and rear driveline and PTO shaft, new 122 tooth generator drive belt and brakes front and rear. AMSOIL severe gear differential oil in the front and rear differentials, and transfer case. Engine flushed and AMSOIL filter and oil added. Radiator flushed with new fluids. The radiator is like new. The tires are 85+% condition.
