Vehicle description
Up for sale AT NO RESERVE is my 1949 Luscombe 8F Silvaire with full electrical system. If you have every flown a Luscombe, you need no further introduction to what it is and how it fly"s. For those of you who dont, this plane is as close to FLYING as you can get without a jetpack. Basic instruments, radio, Mode C Xponder, intercom, original wheel pants, canopy window, AutoFuel STC, custom interior, vintage paint scheme with N numbers painted on top and bottom of wings, Maule tailwheel, electric start, EGT gauge, 12.5 gallon aluminum wing tanks. Always hangared, no corrosion. Corrosion X applied at least once or twice a year.
Polished aluminum with painted upper fuselage, tail numbers (old school), and engine cowling. Custom interior that is probably 95-99%. New fuel selector switch, original wheel pants, dual wing tanks, Goodyear Brakes, full logs, current annual, always hangared.
Fuselage:
Polished aluminum with painted upper fuselage, original wheel pants, Silflex landing gear,
Engine:
Continental C-90 with 1300 hrs since factory overhaul. When I say factory, that means Continental did the overhaul. Overhauled Marvel Shebler carburator (it is a work of art). No B.S. $800.00 overhaul and I almost did not want to put it back in the plane. I needed to go under glass. Slick mags, rebuildable. Autofuel STC. Oil burn is unknown since I change the oil before I get beyond the 20 hour mark.
Prop:
Metal polished. I have to polish it since it was recently repainted.
Damage history:
Minor ground loop back in the 60"s or 70"s. All repairs were done and recorded. Its been flying for 50 years without any issues.
THIS THING GETS ATTENTION EVERYWHERE YOU GO. NO JOKE.
There is a saying that real pilots fly taildragger"s. Well its true. Forget your Cessnas, Pipers (exclude Cub), etc. This plane was designed for one thing. .flying.
I had her polished about 3 months ago and I would say she is at 85-90%. She can get back to 100% with a little patience, a couple of cold brews, and a nice shady spot. I may even include my polishing equipment.
Feel free to ask any questions. I have all the logs from day one. It comes with a complete set of Bruce"s Custom Covers still in the box (Canopy Cover, Wing Covers, Prop Cover $1300.00 cost). Have more pictures if required.
I had previously listed the plane with a reserve price which was $28,500.00. Just to let everyone know where I am at. Also, I have listed the plane locally, so I do reserve the right to end the auction early in case someone shows up with cash in hand.
Maybe interested in trades. .
