Vehicle description
I"ve decided to part ways with my 1951 M-37. It"s been a great restoration project and I"ve had a lot of fun with it. But unfortunately I"ve lost interest in it and I rather see it move on to some else to restore than have it be a garage queen for me. It runs and drives and great. Most of the work I"ve done has been mechanically restoring the truck. I"ve replaced all the wheel cylinders, the master cylinder, and all the rubber lines. It stops well and straight. The motor runs well. It"s got a new cap and rotor. The fluids have all been changed. I"ve replaced various seals on it as well. It also has a Vintage Wire of Maine full wiring harness. Which if you know anything about M-37"s this is a big deal. It"s a top quality hand made wiring harness just like the original. The originals usually rot out and can be a fire hazard with the 24 volt systems these trucks have. I"ve also replaced the sending unit in the gas tank. Also its got all new canvas. Body wise the truck is excellent condition and the truck is almost rust free. The worst parts of the body are the tailgate. It"s salvageable but pretty beat. I have to use some heat on it to straighten it out. The only rust on the truck is on the front fenders right below the headlights on each side. It"s fairly minor and a pretty common place to get rust. Other than those two areas it"s really a very straight truck and you would be hard pressed to find one nicer. Basically to finish the restoration the truck really just needs a nice paint job. Also unusual and rare for one of these trucks is to know the history of the truck. This truck started it"s life in the Indiana National Guard. It was in the 38th Aviation Brigade. If you are from the Indianapolis area this is the National Guard Base you see along I-74 near Shelbyville. After that it was sold as surplus to the Cass County Civil Defense. Then people I bought the truck from bought it from the in the late 80"s and it was used around their farm and for parade duty. I have all the providence to pack all that up. I have some spare parts that come along with the truck. I"ve got 2 spare motors. I don"t know the internal condition of both I bought them mainly for the parts externally on them. I have the parts for head ache rack. I also have a few odds and ends as well. If you have any question or would like so see more pictures don"t hesitate to ask. I have the truck listed for sale locally and may end the auction early for that. Also the truck is for sale as is where is.
