Vehicle description
Hurricane Harvey Aug 2017 Houston Texas
Due to the effects of Hurricane Harvey in Aug 2017 this 2015 Holiday Rambler Motor Home was issued a Texas salvage title due to floodwater damage, when an insurance company declared this vehicle a total loss. Vehicles are typically sold at salvage auctions to vehicle rebuilders.
This was one of a large number of campers and motor homes on the property of a large Houston RV dealer who’s entire inventory had flood waters in and around them at different levels. The insurance company branded their entire inventory as floodwater salvage vehicles.
This motor home had about 6 inches of water in the luggage compartments. Water never got into anything electrical or into the interior of the motor home. But because the vehicle sat in muddy water for 3 or 4 weeks it could have had some mechanical issues with the breaks or wheels.
I purchased This 2015 Holiday Rambler from salvage vehicle dealer in November 2018 with intentions of cleaning it up, making sure everything was working as it should and reselling it. But it was so nice that we used it all this summer, we found everything inside the motor home working just fine and now I’m ready to sale.
Here is what’s been done to this motor home making it a safe and clean vehicle.
All waters and mud was removed from the luggage compartments and cleaned as though it never happened. Because water had been upon the wheels for a number of weeks all breaks and wheel bearings were check for any needed repairs or replacement. All mechanical work was preformed by Wheatley Truck Service, Clarksville, IN. All breaks were found to be in good working order with no repairs needed. Front wheel bearings and kingpins were replaced at a coast of over $2,400.
I added a new window awing over the kitchen window so it could be left opened for ventilation during hot weather. $750.00
