Vehicle description
Great opportunity to purchase and restore a vintage formula ford. This car was modified to CV joint in the early 70"s and could be left as is or changed back to donut type (I started this however I have too many other projects so I am moving on). Car includes Hewland (in great shape) one engine in boxes (who knows how complete) and one complete engine which needs to be freshened (Bob Adkins engine)- it is dry sump.
We have done much chassis work, we have redone some of the suspension. Car needs wiring, oil and brake lines, fire system, etc. etc. The rear uprights were changed when converted to CV joint- we have partially started making new rear uprights per original.
I will add more photos as I get them. I have two sets of bodywork- the original rounded DL9 and the newer style angled body. The original rounded is in great shape, the angular style is pretty beat up. I have 4 wheels- aluminum CF type wheels- not the original dunlop wheels. You can email me questions- [email protected] I will also add more photos and more details as I remember them. Car is in the midwest.
DL9 was a great chassis- if you search race results in England they won a large percent of races in 1972 and 1973. The DL9 has outside rear radiators- very unique for a 72" car.
Car is in Chicago area - I can arrange visits of the car (stored at mechanic in buffalo grove).
