Vehicle description
1970 Boss Mustang Vintage Race Car
This is a very competitive car in the right hands. I purchased the car in 2010 and it had two owners prior to me (that I have records for) who raced the car in several venues across the country. There are many records of work done to the car since 2002. No records prior to that so I can"t comment on prior to 2002.
When I purchased the car in 2010, I had the following work performed:
Replaced: Plugs/wires/cap/rotor/carburetor/fuel lines-pump-regulator/starter & solenoid/tires/ brake pads-
rotors/exhaust/seat belts/clutch & slave cylinder
I only took the car to the track a few times in 2010/11 and then work/life got in the way. It has been stored since and then in August 2018 I freshened the car to get it ready for the track/sale:
- Replaced all fluids. Didn"t rewire drain plugs in case new owner wants to change fluids again.
- Drained/cleaned fuel tank. Didn"t have race gas on hand, so put in premium gas with octane booster just to get the engine running and validate condition. Fires right up and very strong as always.
- Replaced clutch assembly with new Tilton 7.25″ OT-II metallic racing clutch (66-002HG, 64185-2-AA-36)
Before taking to the track - You"ll want to replace the tires as they are from 2010 and get seat belts replaced/recert, check fire suppression system cert etc. .
This has been raced since at least 2003 based upon the records I have:
Log Books
Rocky Mountain Vintage Racing LTD - 2009
SVRA - 2004
NASA (National Auto Sport Association - 2008
Race Results & Track Notes
Summit Point Blue-Gray Challenge - 2003
Nashville - No dates, just tech notes
Michigan - 2004
The car has a Jerico 4 speed transmission, Custom Ford 9" Detroit Locker w/4.30 gears, 31 spline moser axles. I was told the 302 in the car is a Mexico block which is supposed to be stronger. I can"t tell you exactly what cam it has as there are records for a few. Per the receipts, you can see nothing was left untouched on the car to make it race competitive. I can"t tell you anything more except for what"s in the receipts and don"t know the mileage on various parts etc. . However, I can tell you everything runs strong and appears to need nothing other then tires and recert"s etc. .
I have a clean Florida title, however, the car has no VIN markings on it. So I will sell it with the same note as the prior two BOS"s have "The is an off road race car and no VIN"s are located on the car". The title is for a 70 Boss, but with no Vin"s, who can say. All I could find was a date code stamp on a rocker panel which is one month prior to the build date, which lines up with what you could expect.
