Vehicle description
Fire Truck 1988 Federal Motors 500 Gallon Pumper. Cummins L10 Diesel 2,622 Hours on clock. Allison 4 speed Automatic transmission. Odometer is 7,459. Both Odometer and Hour meter are working properly. I acquired this truck last year from the US Forest Service. I was told the truck was in service at Malvern Iowa Fire Department for the past 10 years. I was able to talk to the fireman in Malvern that drove the truck. I wanted to confirm that the road worthiness before buying. I bought the truck and we drove it from western Iowa 300 miles on I-80 at 65mph, it ran great. He also told me the truck was in service in California prior to coming to Iowa. This truck starts well, steers, drives, shifts as it should, the Cummins diesel sounds very good. the air brakes work well and hold good air pressure, the engine oil is clean and holds good oil pressure. The Tachometer and fuel gauge are not working properly. The red/blue roof mounted light bar and horns are working as well as the electronic siren/PA unit. Also the Red rocker lights on the front of the cab work properly. The dirver seat cushion has a tear but is currently being repaired by an upholstery shop. The interior is very good, the body has a few rust scabs starting and are visible, (check photos). The front tires are weak tread wise, the rears better, all hold air pressure well. There are a few missing chrome caps and exterior lights,(check photos), the running lights and turn signals work properly. I don"t know anything about Fire Trucks but bought it because I liked it and it was running well. Now I must sell it. I am a Illinois used car dealer, this is not my normal type vehicle, I have a good Illinois title and Illinois buyers may be subject to state sales tax, license and title fees. Selling "AS IS" No Warranty. A $500.00 non refundable deposit is required. Thank you. Jim Mercer
