Vehicle description
This is a super cool overland adventure trailer to tow off-road that was custom and professionally built by an Indiana off-road shop (Sun Fire Off-Road, Sunman, IN) to tow (mostly) behind a Jeep Wrangler TJ for western adventures.
This military style looking trailer has leaf springs, shocks, electric brakes, and tows straight and easy. It’s been towed approximately 17,000 miles since built. I have easily towed it at 70+ mph and goes off-road to remote, scenic locations, and back home.
This trailer was built to easily follow the Jeep TJ on highways and off-road, and as well to store my camping gear in between overland adventures. Think of this as a camping box that is always ready to go! It has never been damaged or abused, and always garage kept when not being towed.
TRAILER SPECS: (size and specs are approximate)
Built 2013. LINEX professional coated (inside and outside . . easy to spray off/spray out). Leaf springs and shocks. Weighs about 1100#s (when loaded with gear and with Tepui roof top tent). Custom, heavy-duty built axle for off-road use (build specs were for 3500#). Electric brakes with 7-way harness. Jack: Ark’s XO Series Jockey Wheel (made in Australia). Box size: 60” x 36” x 18” (lots of room for camping gear!). Tongue length: 44”. Trailer length: 104”. Overall trailer width: 64”. Bottom of box sits 23" off of the ground. Rear axle clearance is 15". Trailer has tailgate! LED tail lights (they work, picture included). Has rear hitch mount (could use it to mount bike rack). Has 11# propane bottle aluminum mount on front (tanks sold through HomeDepot). Has Rotopax mount and storage container (can also mount a Rotopax fuel container). Lock lid and tailgate with padlocks. Tires: Two 32" Goodyear MT/Rs with Kevlar (no spare … Jeep’s spare tire served as trailer"s spare tire, but I never had tire issues with the MT/Rs). Wheels: Eagle Alloys 15x8” (bolt pattern: 5x4.5” . . matches a Jeep Wrangler TJ and some other vehicles). Lid has two gas lifts to assist opening. Additional tie downs on lid and as well inside box. I’ve never had water get inside as lid has a lip to it. Some dust has gotten inside on a few very dusty western dirt roads. With the LINEX interior, I just spray out when home. I had this serviced April 2021 (packed wheel bearings … shop said brakes were at 70%). I just towed it about 2,000 miles. Easy to move around on pavement and in dirt being light weight. One guy can pick up the tongue by hand and move it around. (That"s important when towing off-road incase you have to unhook and turn the trailer around.) Interior has a battery box mount and wires to trickle charge battery, however I moved "auxiliary" battery inside the vehicle to faster charge. (No battery included.) Frame is solid. Light surface rust on a few bolts. Pictures of bottom is dirt from being towed off-road out west … NOT rust as bottom was also LINEX coated. Never been towed on salted roads as this was used during summer months. Always garage kept when not being towed.
ROOF TOP TENT:
Model: Tepui Ayer (2 person, interior when open is about 48” x 84”). Similar to this one: https:/ tepui.com/products/thule-tepui-explorer-ayer-2. Condition: Very good to good. No holes in screens, zippers all work. Very clean inside. No mold on tent fabric. Tent skirt is ripped in two places from getting caught in cover"s zipper, however no rips anywhere else on tent. Replaced/upgraded pad inside about two years go. Always kept pad covered with clean blanket. Replaced rainfly two years ago to upgraded version. Could use a new cover as the start of the zipper is ripped (picture included . . Tepui sells new covers for $139). Used about 40 nights? Trailer’s lid can open with roof open or closed (easier to open when tent is open). Four bolts secure tent to the lid . . Tepui Ayer is about 95#s . . if you want to remove the tent. Tent is super comfortable to sleep in, great air flow being off of the ground, and setup time is 5 minutes!
ABOUT THE SALE:
Trailer is Indiana titled and tile is in hand. Sold as-is. Jeeps, cow, scenic locations and memories are NOT included. :)
Thanks for looking! Questions? Several pictures are from previous adventures! It gets attention no matter where it gets towed!
