Vehicle description
This is a very unique Cushman airborne scooter. It was purchased from a government auction in the early 1950’s and spent it’s military life at Eagle Field just outside Los Banos California. That base trained pilots during WW2. It is still painted Air Force blue and appears to be in pretty good shape for its age. It remained with he same family since it was purchased from the government and was used on a ranch here in California.
I have not tried to start this at all but appears to be mechanically sound. The tires look original but should probably be inspected before use. A second seat was added at some point probably by the military as it is the same shape and color as the other. I would guess this would be done so they could ferry pilots to their planes? There is no title for this as it never had one. I can help load on my end and can possibly put it on a pallet and drop it off at a shipping terminal.
This can be enjoyed as is as this is a very very historical and significant Cushman or it can be turned into the green 53 Cushman airborne scooter like the ones used in Normandy. I am by no means an expert on these but from my research it looks like this is a civilian model that was purchased by the military for use on bases, etc. . Apparently this was a very common practice. There is the Husky engine tag with a serial number and another on the cowl that I am guessing was added by the military. Please ask any questions you have.
