1979 Crown Charter Coach Bus There are very few of these left. Located in Severy, Kansas This Bus Was In Use Less Than 2 Years Ago. I bought it from the school last week. And Drove it 1,200 miles with no problems. This design changed very little over 40 years that Crown Coach made them. This is the big brother to the Crown School Buses. The motor is a 2 stroke 8V71 Detroit with a 5 Speed Standard transmission. At 2000 rpm it runs 64mph. At 2,250 rpm it runs 69 mph.And has power left over to do 70+. I tried to keep it closer to 2,100 rpm. There is not much rust. It came from IDAHO. Basically high and dry. It is a very classy bus. And would make a cool Tiny House. The windshields have cracks. You could convert them back to flat glass like some of the crown buses had. This bus has Air Conditioning.
But I have not tested it yet. The bus also has a diesel fired water heater.
