Under the ownership of Alliance, the transmission was rebuilt in 2015. Since being privately owned, the bus has been used for leisure, including two short duration road trips, one from California to Colorado and another from California to Oklahoma. Drivetrain: The drive-train is powered by a Detroit 6L-71 diesel in great condition as experience has shown. Starter operation is reliable with the occasional need to make multiple attempts. Engine runs dependably and smoothly without showing any signs of unreliability under current ownership. The transmission is a 3 speed automatic, shifts smoothly, and is extremely easy to use. These components were sufficient to power the bus over the Rocky Mountains and underwent sustained operation up to 5 continuous hours of driving through the Arizona desert in mid-July with temperatures in excess of 110 degrees Fahrenheit. When driven over sustained mountainous terrain, periodic stops are necessary to allow for engine and transmission cooling. Maximum sustained speed is approximately 60-70 mph. Tires: Tires are in good condition. Same set as when purchased. Adequate for one more road trip, but need replacing beyond that. Spare tire with wheel is included. Exterior: Having been under private ownership for less than 2 years, the exterior paint shows only minor wear and has not been altered from the original school bus markings. The most significant signs of wear occur on the front bumper, various locations on the black trim, and minor surface rust where the paint has chipped. All glass is present and unbroken with minor chips on the front windshield. On the forward left front corner, the position light cover has been broken and one of the left driving mirrors is missing. The front bumper shows a slight bow outward right of center. Interior: The interior shows little renovation since its use as a school bus, and general condition is consistent with such use. The most significant sign of wear is visible degradation of seat material which has been patched with duct-tape in several locations. Current configuration, as seen in photos, includes approximately half of the seats unbolted and stacked toward the center of the bus. Floor, wall, and seat surfaces are clean with exception of dust and sparse bubblegum from school bus service. Accessories: Driving Lights Functional: Headlights, turn signals, brake lights, reverse lights, caution flashers, red flashers, position lights (outside on top corners + top edge). Interior Light Functional: Dash lights, driver overhead, stair, row overhead (lights seating from above). Dash Functional: RPM, front and rear air pressure, fuel gauge, transmission temp, water temp (engine temp), oil pressure, battery voltage. Dash non-Functional: Speedometer, odometer Other Dash: Air-conditioning (hot or cold) does not function including the fan above the driver seat (fan recently went out and is likely a loose connection or frayed wire) Horn: 2 horns, both functional
