Vehicle description
Minimalist skoolie for sale.Video tour is here: https:/ youtu.be/8HVHTFPMR6k The full conversion is on YouTube as the “Prison Bus Conversion” series, and yes, it was formerly a corrections bus. Now it’s all about freedom.Conversion specs: Minimalist open floor plan in this 40’ bus with a rear storage “garage,” queen bed with under bed storage, bathroom spanning the hallway, kitchen, two skylights, living room with fold out couch, roof deck, and under bus storage. Some buses are crowded and maximize the use of every square inch. This conversion is all about an open, bright, simple, clean space for a few people to enjoy.Living space has 110 AC shore power (lights, outlets, rooftop AC, space heater) and 12v DC (additional lights + water pump) powered via a converter. Bus has an original leisure battery compartment but it is not currently set up. Hot water is propane which has not been connected to the tanks (we never used hot water). Kitchen relies on a mini fridge placed in a bay sized for a larger Norcold fridge should you want to upgrade. Cooking is via an induction cooktop (not included) and a dedicated countertop receptacle. Fresh water tank is 20 gallons. Heat is via a wall mounted space heater and cooling via a rooftop 100v AC unit. Features such as solar power, gas generator, or additional heating could be added to the existing systems.Mechanicals: Cat 3126 Diesel engine with 260k miles. I just changed the oil and filter, replaced the alternator belt, and installed new batteries. Bus starts up strong and runs great. We haven’t traveled in this bus or used it much at all since the conversion, so have no knowledge about how it is on long road trips; it’s been garaged at our place. The bus has some rust and a few idiosyncrasies (like the backup camera not always working, the driver’s heat/cooling being spotty, and the air system losing pressure after a few days of sitting). But bus drives and runs great with no known mechanical issues. As it’s a used vehicle this bus is sold AS IS. I have the title in hand and it’s titled as an RV in Illinois. We"re excited to see this bus move on to the next owners. We will observe all Covid related masking and social distancing protocols when selling and showing the bus which is located in Urbana, 2 hours south of Chicago.
