Vehicle description
1976 MC-8 Motor Coach Industries MCI Bus Diesel Pusher. 8v71 engine with Allision Automatic Transmission Air Ride Suspension With Auxiliary Fuel Tank. This Coach was a Grey Hound for the first 400k miles then used as tour coach out of Cincinnati Ohio for 300k. Third owner was a church how estimated they used it around 40k and then I purchased it to do the conversion. Since the Conversion we have travelled approximately 30k taking multi trips all over the US. We have had it in California, Texas, Florida, Minnesota, Las Vegas, North Carolina, North Dakota, and many more. Has a rear bedroom with queen bed or double kids bunks, Full bathroom with tiled shower and floor, Kitchen Dinnete area that converts to a queen bed, Setting area up front with a couch that pulls forward to make an addition bed. Unfortunately we have not had time to use it recently and the last trip was 2019 to Savanna Georgia. This spring we took it to local campground so it has not been winterized. This thing creates conversation every time we stop. Feel free to ask any question i will respond and provide my phone for further conversation. This has been a big part of our family and will be hard to see it go. Its not professionally built but I am a professional contractor and designed it be used hard. We actually lived it this between house for 5 months during an Ohio winter. Pros 1. Its has been very reliable for us with very little down time 2. Coach A/C works and has 1 Roof Air and 2 Roof Heat Pumps (Penguin) 3. Drives great always starts on the first push of the button 4. All wiring 120v is in BX metal casing with Square D Load Center 5. Many Sleeping configurations but easily Sleeps 6 Adults 6. 50 gallon grey water, 50 gallon black water, 50 gallon fresh water 7. 1 Full Basement for Storage and a Half of another gives lots of storage 8. Good working Microwave and Refrigerator both 120v 9. 2 Deep Cycle house batteries with Xantrex Inverter 10. No Air leaks and holds air for hours 11. Lots of recent brake work done (new main axle drums and shoes) (New shoes and air springs trailing axle) (New Shoes and air springs front axle) 12. City sign in front window is fun to use and works 13. Girard power awning with no supports just push flip the switch 14. Tons of great cabinets, tile, and hardwood. Clean inside. 15. Private Full Bathroom (tiled shower, tiled floor) 16. Extremely secure camping (Built very Tough) 17. Trailer Hitch (we tow a car on long trips) 18. 12 volt solar panel keep house batteries charge 19. 7000 watt Onan Marquise Generator with 30 gallon fuel cell 20. 50 Amp electric Service with 50 foot cord (runs 2 airs on generator and 3 on shore) Cons 1. Age it is older and there is a saying in the coach industry if it isn"t broken its breaking 2. Will need some rear tires as some are very old we replaced steer tires 5 years back 3. Basement lights drain main coach batteries and will need addressed we just turn them off at night 4. Exterior paint is starting to show age as we painted it over 14 years ago (could use a little touch up) 5. One exterior upper light has leaked a little and cause some water damage in dinnete wall 6. Its not a profession conversion so there are some things just not perfect and materials use in alternative ways 7. Expect to spend some time working on this to make it ready to travel across the country (not saying it wouldn"t make it) 8. Has some rust as its has a million miles or very near (Rear Air Springs are Plated or modified to not use the frame) 9. Slow up mountains and you have to watch the engine temp and down shift accordingly to keep temperature down (We have been up the highest mountains out west but it takes careful driving and consent supervision Common for MC8)
