Vehicle description

This auction is for our 1988 Coachman Truck Camper, model 085 SD. (The truck is NOT included) We purchased it in 1996. It had carpenter ant damage in the Cab-over. It was repaired and has been fine ever since. It suited us well while the children were growing up. When camping, we would also pull an enclosed trailer which stored our bikes, the tent, and all the other camping gear. We would flip for who got to sleep in the camper and who, the tent. It was also great to use when going to Cedar Point and Kings Island to have lunch and dinner in it. We also took it to southern Ohio with the dirt bikes in the trailer and it was our kitchen and rest area when RC car racing at the mall on Sundays. There was also a trip to Daytona Beach one year. Some of the children traveled in the camper playing cards and watching TV. (Though some states prohibited it in they had to get in the truck before crossing the state line. Research to see if that is still allowed.)Now that the children are grown, it doesn’t get much use anymore. We did take it to Texas last September to visit family, but we needed to install an air conditioning unit before that trip. (Costing over $1000 just for the parts) The AC really helped sleeping in the Texas heat, but it no longer fits in the garage so it has been stored outside ever since. The pictures with the camper in the truck are from that trip last September (2019). The rest of the shots are recent. The truck camper is now for sale because a travel trailer better suites our current needs. It will come with the mounting hardware to install it in a 1988 to 1998 Chevy or GMC pickup. I don’t know what else it may be adaptable to. The mounts are inserted into the stake holes on the corners of an 8 foot bed. Stainless steel turn-buckles hold the camper to these mounts. The electrical set-up plugs into a standard 7-pin trailer harness. The Good: The AC is almost brand new. It’s a Colman Mach 8 Cub with a wall mounted thermostat and a heat strip to take the chill out of the air on cool mornings. Cooling amps-high is only 11.7 amp so it is easily run with a generator. The oven is very clean. I don’t recall using it. You can park this in a normal parking spot. It’s narrow enough to see around it without special mirrors (extension mirrors are included but I hardly ever used them) You can use the pickup hitch to pull a trailer, maybe tow your fishing boat. It doesn’t need license plates. It can be made in excellent condition for its age. (it does need a good clean-up and waxing) and the aluminum roof is in great shape. The Bad: I just found out the refrigerator no longer works while going through everything. It’s a NORCOLD model 874EG2 if you want to look into a replacement. (Or just use it as a built-in cooler.) The bathroom is only a porta-potti in the clothes closet. The cab-over cushion is sun damaged by the window. We just put a bedsheet over it to hide it. It has no hot water heater. The fiberglass is due for the seams to be resealed. (YouTube has some good videos on how to do this)Don’t know if this is good or bad, but it has no grey or black water tanks. It does have a 30 gallon fresh water tank.I’ve taken many pictures to try to convey the condition of this. Please make sure it will work with your truck before bidding on it. I recommend at least a ¾ ton pick-up with an 8 foot bed. I believe it weighs about 1900 lb. Email if you have any questions I didn’t answer. We are located in Northeast Ohio near the intersection of route 44 and 322. I do have it for sale in the front yard so I reserve the right to remove it from auction if it sells locally. (At least until 12 hours before the auction ends. After that – will not allow removal)Good luck and Happy camping!
