1985 Chevrolet CUCV tactical ambulance, 4x4, 6.2 diesel engine, 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission, Dana 60 front axle, 14 bolt GM rear axle, 1 1/4 ton rated. Truck has 60600 original miles, I purchased it from US Government in November of 2012 with 21649 miles.
Truck was used at a fire department and stored inside for the time they had it, luckily all they did was paint it and did not modify or hack it up. During the time I have had it I have replaced the injection pump, lift pump, harmonic balancer, exhaust from engine to muffler 3 years ago, from muffler back this year, new tires last year.
As is will sleep 3 people in the back, the litter rack on the drivers side will install just as you see the one on the passenger side. It has a diesel heater in the back that will drive you out on the coldest of days. Has a new never used 120V AC powered air conditioner with remote control, you will need shore power, generator or on board AC inverter to power it. There is 12v DC and 24V DC power available in the back, a 12v DC cigar type plug in the front.
The engine starts "on the key" even on cold days, all original glow plug system, no hacks, secret switches or manual over ride 100% stock. I installed a rebuilt heavy duty 700R4 automatic overdrive transmission at about 45K miles, this makes it possible to cruise along at 65 even with the low 4:56 gearing. There are no switches, electrics or other controls to the transmission, it is all self contained and will shift into overdrive and lock the converter all by itself, just put in drive and go. The truck was not modified to install the transmission, it was a direct fit. If you wanted to the original TH400 would go right back in.
I started to prep the rear body for paint, it could use paint and cosmetic work. There is surface rust in places on the cab, the rear is aluminum. I have tried my best to show where the rust is coming through the paint. There is a rip in the bottom driver"s seat, the dash is above average condition with only one crack right over the steering wheel. All the lights work including the roof mounted spotlight, the right rear black out marker is missing/broken. Truck is equipped with reverse light and a back up alarm. Spare tire is mounted under the rear of the body. The only known mechanical fault I know of is the radiator has a slow weep on the bottom lower left corner.
Truck will sell with a full tank of fuel, all fluids checked and inspected to the best of my ability. Maine does not issue titles for vehicles older than 1994. You will receive a bill of sale, Maine registration form signed over to you and an original copy of the US Government SF97 title form. I have sold other CUCV truck with this same paperwork to a NY resident and he had no trouble registering it. I will deliver for free to Bangor, ME 04401 once the truck is paid for in full. Truck is being sold as is. I can meet a shipper or individual for pick up.
I have not seen one of these for sale for quite a while, this is a good chance to own a solid running turn key truck for a good price, a good paint job and she will be a sharp looking rig.
