Vehicle description

Let’s go Land Speed Racing ! This auction is for the sale of my Land Speed Vehicle built for the Bonneville Salt Flats. I did a bunch of Drag Racing back in the 1960’s and 70’s, and I’ve watched the sport evolve into what I feel is a terminal direction. Gone are the home built creations that allowed everybody to participate with their own ideas on how to make a car go fast. Slowly all the home built vehicles were legislated out of the NHRA’s events in favor of the Professional segment of racing. Gone are the Gas-Supercharged cars, the Fuel Altereds, Top Gas Dragsters, Roadsters, Modified Sports, and other classes that interested me, leaving a great void. As I approached my Golden Years, I still had a yearning to compete, and I discovered Land Speed Racing at the Bonneville Salt Flats. I remember reading about Bonneville in my youth, but being located on the East Coast made it much more than a weekend event. I am now retired with no schedules to meet, and that lends itself well to competing at Bonneville even though I am working from a geographical disadvantage. My car was built as a “Lakester” which can best be compared to today’s “Dragsters” used on the quarter mile. Bonneville will return much higher terminal velocities than the dragstrip, so streamlining becomes the major difference between the two venues. I have also run the car as a Streamliner by adding fairings to the rear of the tires, which are not allowed in the lakester division. The pictures show the car running as a Streamliner at Bonneville. The car is configured with a rear engine design that has proven safer should an engine failure or fire occur. Power is by a big Block Chevy with twin turbos to make over 1,100 HP. There is plenty of physical room for another engine choice should you so desire. This car has been over the 300 mph mark several times at Bonneville, and does extremely well at the many new 1 mile race courses becoming so popular around the United States. Terminal speeds at the I mile and I ½ mile distances are over 250 mph. All this performance at a price that is only a fraction of the cost that it would take to build a drag car. Personal health conditions force a liquidation sale of my project, and I am asking you to send me your e-mail address so I can send you a (6) page description of all that is included in the sell price. Cell = Nine-zero-eight-eight hundred-one-one-eight-nine. This racing package is being offered in local and national markets, and it will be first come, first served, so react accordingly. This auction will show shipping as "pickup", but I can deliver unit anywhere in continental US for cost of slightly more than fuel consumption, or you can make your own shipping arrangements.
