Offered is 1979 BMW rare sunroof delete 323i/2.8 BMWCCA D-Modified club racer #44. The headlights are the desirable single headlight/grill option only offered in Europe. The sheet metal front hood and rear deck have been replaced with fiberglass pieces pinned to the body. The windshield is the original European spec glass (has crack see pic). The side and rear widows are lightweight lexan.
The cabin includes a fully sanctioned BMWCCA custom roll cage. The original equipment cluster comes with a custom race dash. The interior is bare metal and sparse but a single Corbeaurace seat with custom seat rails, and Simpson 5 point race harness. The German Rial three spoke race wheel is period correct, and in very good condition. The battery has been relocated to the trunk for better weight distribution.
"Wolfenstein" was built by a vintage race car driver/ BMW NA technical instructor out of Los Angeles, California with the help of his friend Jeff Ireland of Ireland Engineering. He upgraded the driveline from a stock 2.3 liter m20, to a "88 2.5i head, and a 2.8 super eta bottom 6 cylinder engine. It has "88 motonics fuel pressure regulator and "88 535i air flow meter. It"s mated with a five speed close-throw O.D.transmission connected to 100% locked rear differential. Full race header with straight side exhaust. The chassis is fully adjustable with a modified Bilstein suspension and coilovers. Driver assist features include a 4 wheel disc brake system (323i). The extremely rare staggered 15x6.5 inch Epsilons (195/50 Kuhmos)in front and 15x7 Epsilons (205/50 Kuhmos) in the rear are in very good condition.
Included with the sale is the BMWCCA Club Racing Logbook, and clean California title signed by the original owner/builder. Great power to weight ratio, very quick and very fast, easy to drive and maintain! An excellent platform for Vintage racing (SVRA Group 8 eligible?), Club racing, HPDE, drifting?
