Vehicle description
Hello, and thanks for looking! You are bidding on a 1992 International Blue Bird 65 Passenger School Bus. Local pick up in Hollister, California. No reserve. Engine runs strong, clean title, 2nd owner (first own was Mississippi’s school district, and I purchased it after it has been decommissioned). I purchased this bus in Mississippi in March 2017, and drove it back to California. Here are the specs of the bus:
1992 International Bluebird 65 Passenger School Bus
Mileage: 134,106 miles (Diesel engines last over 500,000 miles)
This bus runs AMAZINGLY as is, and does not need any work. Tires are in great condition. No AC. In summary, here are the upgrades I’ve done to the bus in the past year since purchase:
- 2x New Batteries in parallel ($500)
- Padlock for rear emergency door entrance
- Padlock for battery holder
- Ripped out all old wood / rubber
- Sanded rust and cleaned entire inside of bus
- Painted Primer and another coat of paint on floor For the past year, it has been sitting in storage (I pay $100/month for storage) while I worked on it. I haven’t ran the bus for half a year, and it still run great when I went back to turn it on (8/15/2018). It took me 4 days to drive the bus from Mississippi back to California, and it drives VERY well. Never had any issues with the bus except it had a weak battery when I first purchased it. When I went back to California, I purchased 2 brand new batteries ($500 for both), and it has been running like a champ ever since. All seats are removed except for the driver’s seat. I’ve kept the front row seats (seats 2 other people) if you’d like to reinstall it. I’ve gutted and cleaned the floors (dirt, rust, old gum stuck on the ground, etc), sanded and painted the floors (with primer and paint). All windows are in working condition. 1 of the window will not close shut but can be held up with duct tape (easily fixable). Without the tape, it would open about 1 inch. Here’s a list of all things that will come with your purchase:
- The bus.
- 2x New Batteries
- A “classroom” map of Europe, which was a gift to me from a stranger during my journey
- A working mechanical wall clock (gift during my travels)
- A shelf with some tools and cleaning supplies (Hammers, chisels, etc)
- Unopened paint
- A ladder used to get on/off the bus from emergency exit
- My hand-made cup holder I used during my drive from Mississippi to California
- Painted chalk board on the wall
- 1992 Firsts Aid Kit (that still works!)
- Keys to the bus To me, this was more than just a “school bus”. This was (for a while) my home, my office, and my dream. I was hoping to convert it into a classroom to teach kids manufacturing (like a maker space). However, life has taken my journey elsewhere and I must part from this bus. I’d like to pass this bus along so that someone else can make this school bus their dream bus. If you"d like to read my journey, here it is:
