Vehicle description
This car has been raced from new and is eligible for the Monterey Historics as well as Colorado Grand. Still street legal, it was raced for the first time in 35 years in June at VIR. In the early 80s this car was subject to a frame off upgrade (following a crash at Mosport) that included a full alloy body (the decklid is currently steel) including a "smooth" rear shroud without exterior fuel filler, factory alloy skin doors and ultra rare factory rear disk brakes. All of these parts were sourced by Ed Delong who owned both this car and 57 FAC (a "63 works Sebring car) from leftover BMC Canada competition dept. At the Same time the chassis was reinforced in the same way the factory cars were using 57 FAC as a template. A very well designed roll cage both adds chassis rigidity while keeping the driver safe. The car came to Florida in 1985 and has been here since. In 2015 it was completely disassembled and rebuilt. EVERYTHING is new. Engine is balanced, .040 over, mild porting, fast road cam, ultra light flywheel, competition clutch, electronic ignition, Webers & header. Toyota 5 spd trans (original is rebuilt and included). Parts from Denis welch include : large front sway bar, competition spindles & hubs, Minilites, aluminum radiator, dual master cylinder, competition springs, eurethane bushings throughout, competition axles, rear traction bars, watts link, carbon brake pads, gear reduction starter, 3.9 open differential, 4.3 LSD, 4.8 LSD. New hoosier race tires on Minilites. Street/ rain tires on period steel wheels. Odyssey battery. Fuel Safe cell. New belts. I completed the car earlier this year and put about 250 trouble free road miles on it before going to race it. I have had zero issues of any sort . It"s essentially a brand new car that should give you a lot of trouble free fun and a ticket to do some of the most prestigious events in the U.S. for not a lot of money. It comes with a Florida title and an HSR logbook and should be eligible to race with any vintage organization although some will want the 4 Speed trans in it. Feel free to email if you have questions.
