Vehicle description
1998 Chevrolet 3500 Dual Rear Wheel Armor Truck 1 Ton Armored Bulletproof Vault. TO PURCHASE THIS TRUCK YOU WILL HAVE TO HAVE A VALID DRIVER LICENSE AND INSURANCE CERTIFICATE PRIOR TO RELEASE. YOU WILL ALSO BE REQUIRED TO SIGN A CONTRACT THAT YOU/BUYER ARE NOT A PART OF ANY RADICAL GROUP, MILITIA OR ASSOCIATED WITH ANY PARTY OR GROUP THAT WOULD BE AGAINST THE UNITED STATES OR ITS PEOPLE. NO HATE GROUPS ETC. I AM JUST PROTECTED MYSELF AND OUR GREAT COUNTRY!
This truck was acquired a few years ago from a Texas Police Department. The truck was used for SWAT was what I was told. It is Bulletproof, it has Bullet proof glass, port holes that open and close off, this is the real deal! Separate rear ventilation system. Has a single seat in rear but more could easily be mounted if so desired. Truck has 4 armor access doors (MEDCO KEYED LOCKS) 3 Keys all keyed alike. 2 Ignition Keys. Front windshield bullet proof glass also. Power Release button for rear and one door. This is a bank Vault on wheels! Ony the front hood & fenders are factory type.
I do not know much about these trucks, I bought it for the "cool effect" but it is taking up room now and needs to go. The truck does not smoke or leak any fluids. Its just been serviced and belts replaced. 2 NEW Front tires, rear tires are getting dry rot from age but tread is still 80%. I also installed a battery cut off switch under the hood so if it is parked for long periods it will help keep the battery from running down from storage time.
The battleship grey paint job is new, it was whte originally. The paint job is good but its not a show piece, expect a few flaws but overall the truck looks great for an 88 model heavy duty tank. Based on this truck new well over $100,000 this is a lot for the money! Even older used ones like this go for $40K plus from used armor dealers. This one has some paint flaking inside, surface rust in areas inside and underneath BUT its solid! Look at photos. Truck was not driven in snow and had just gotten some rust from sitting. Rubberized undercoat was applied to the rear interior wall halfway up and below just for cosmetic appeal, the original white paint has worn over usage from Swat trainings. It has 176,000 mostly highway miles. It has air but is not blowing very cool, freon will help. Has front grill guard, factory radio stereo, I have the title free and clear here issued from Georgia. I have been asked how much it weighs, I would guess it weighs approx 12,000/14,000 pounds but thats a mere guess. If its a must know I will have it weighed for you. The rear vault measures 72" wide x 48" tall by 90" long. Vault is solid and nearly 2 inches thick, then two front doors, roof and solid bulletproof windows in front cab also.
If you call I can do a walk around for you. Maybe a video and/or more photos. It is NOT NEW! It has some cosmetic flaws but mechanically seems sound, runs smooth. Two door glasses have stress cracks in them you will see in pictures, I seriously doubt this will harm the near 2 inch thick glass.
It will be as described but it will be sold AS IS. If you were buying it as a vault and not even as a car you would spend $60K. Think of it half price with a truck included! :)
