Vehicle description
1985 5 ton M923A1 truck with 95% 14:00x20 Michelin super single tires with brand new spare tire. 14,932 miles, 542 hours. This is one of the rare Red River Texas Army Depot rebuilds. Anti lock brakes, 5 speed Allison automatic transmission, 2 speed transfer case, Cummins NHC 250 6 cylinder diesel engine, silicone hoses, new group 31 AGM batteries and the upgraded LED headlights. All the gauges and lights work. I have the matching camo canvas which will be included in the sale. Additionally, all the axles, engine and transmission have been upgraded to AMSOIL lubricants. I drove this truck 2500 miles non stop without a hiccup. Starts right up on the first tap of the starter. Took it for a 30 mile exercise run at 55MPH last week for its regular work out. This is a fully functional drive anywhere excellent condition truck. If you decide to purchase this truck you may test drive it here in Grangeville. If you don"t like it for any reason I"ll cancel the sale on the spot on one condition. You must arrive in Grangeville within 72 hours of your purchase for the test drive.
On Oct-22-17 at 13:04:28 PDT, seller added the following information: Additionally, this truck has the updated air intake unlike the earlier mushroom style, see image on air intake pipe. There is a very noticeable DB sound difference in the cab between the insulated hard top and the soft top versions. The M923A1 does not have the nightmarish maintenance issues as with the M923A2 on their CTIS central tire inflation system. I"ve driven the turbocharged M923A2 version as well, and didn"t really notice any appreciable power differences than that of the M923A1. One less thing to worry about on the M923A1 is having another expensive moving part like a turbo. Both trucks produce the same horsepower with the M923A1 having more lower end torque and the M923A2 producing more torque on the higher end. For insurance purposes, the turbo charged version cost more than double to insure.
