Vehicle description
1976 M151A2 AM General Jeep with 22,434 miles on odometer. Has clear Texas Title.
I bought this M151A2 back in Spring 2011. I bought it for $3,500.00 and had to put $2000.00 in all new suspension parts. I have $5,500.00 tied up in this Jeep.
The engine runs great. Radiator has no leaks.
Transmission work well. 3 gear will grind a little but does not cause any problem to drive. The transmission is very strong and will not need to be rebuilt unless you don"t like hearing 3 gear grind a little every once in awhile.
Transfer works good it shifts in 4 wheel drive with no problems.
It has a hardtop with ROPS. The front of hardtop is not connected to top of windshield so you can fold down the windshield if you want to. Left rear glass has a large star crack.
Tires are all tubeless and has new spare also. Firestone Destination M/T - LT215/85R16 E-Rated Tires. (Comes with a Farmall Jack, Tow Rope, Folding Shovel, First Aid Kit, and Tire Tool)
Has all LED lights and electronic master light switch. To turn on lights you have to push service drive button and then push enter button. To turn them off you have to push all off button and push enter button.
If you want a perfect body you will need to do some body work on side panels that is where the most work will be at. Bottom of the jeep is smooth and straight.
Will need in the future to blast and repaint. The floor boards are not rusted through just some surface rust. (Also added Rifle holder between two front seats, Will hold two rifles.)
Items Replaced Spring 2011: All these parts I replaced with N.O.S. through internet parts stores for M151A2.
Carburetor. Windshield, windshield wiper motor, and blades. Steering Gear Box. Master Cylinder, Brake Lines, Wheel Cylinders, Brake Shoes, and Hubs. All A-Arms were replaced with new bushings in them. Both drive shafts and u-joints replaced. Rear differential had to be replaced. All Half shafts replaced. All upper and lower ball joints replaced. (May need to be replaced soon due to rubber dry rot and cracking) This jeep does not come with keys!
How to start jeep.
To start this jeep you have to turn on the master battery switch. Make sure jeep in neutral and hand brake on. Pull the choke out almost all the way. Push the clutch to the floor and with your toe push the starter button to start the jeep. Once the jeep starts push the choke back in far enough to run smooth. To shut off engine just shut off the master power switch.
These type of jeeps are easily to flood on startup if you don"t know how to start them properly. If jeep floods the best way to clear this up is to hold the accelerator to the floor while starting it. Jeep should start up. If it doesn"t work for you then this is why I am including a N.O.S. Carburetor rebuild kit so you can have it rebuilt. May help you out.
Believe it or not this jeep drives smooth and straight down the road. All the hard work I have put in this since I have owned it. It like driving a Cadillac… LOL. .
SO PLEASE SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY THAT KNOWS THE HISTORY OF THESE JEEPS AND KNOW HOW THEY START AND RUN…….
Good Luck Bidding!
