The batteries are expected to hold 80% capacity after 20 years. The batteries in this van were tested and they hold >95% capacity of new Tesla battery modules. Charging : the van can charge the battery by solar, alternator and shore power. All charging are automatic. The solar charging is on whenever there is daylight. The shore power charging is on whenever you plug power cord to the van power inlet. The alternator charging happens whenever the engine is running, and will shut off as soon as engine stops. When alternator is charging, the shore power charging is shut off automatically. Alternator overload protection : when alternator is charging, it automatically disconnects water heater, so you won’t accidentally overload the alternator. During alternator charging, you should also avoid using high power appliances. If you do, the breaker might trip, and you need to reset it. Automatic water inlet valve : this valve prevents from over-filling or under-filling the fresh water tank. The van has an outside inlet to connect garden hose. When you fill fresh water with garden hose, you don’t need to monitor when to stop. The automatic water inlet valve will shut off as soon as the fresh water tank is full. Maintenance free furnace : the 16000BTU Suburban furnace plus the 20lb propane tank provides clean and quiet heating. Compared with diesel heater, which needs annual cleaning and tune up, the propane furnace is clean and does not need annual maintenance. The propane furnace is also much quieter than diesel heater. A/C ready : the powerful electric system supports running a 5000BTU A/C continuously by solar alone. Even without solar, the battery is still capable to run the A/C during whole night. Safety and Security : The van has 4 surveillance cameras that monitor front, back, right and left, so you have full awareness of the environment while stealth camping. All the doors and movable components have locks or magnets, so that they won’t move or open during driving. Overload protection are built in for all inverters and 12V/24V circuits.
