13 ft. TEARDROP CAMPER – custom-built by OUTBACK CAMPERS, Provost Utah
Selling my 1-year-old teardrop camper. I am the only owner. No pets and non-smoking environment. This is a big, finely-finished and well-engineered camper capable of making warm July days and cold March nights delightful. I have used her only 12 times over the last year.
I tow the camper with a 2010 Cadillac DTS – and hardly ever know it’s there. She tows straight and true at 75 mph or more.
INTERIOR : hand-built "solid-wood" cabinetry and heavy-weight canvas ceiling covering. There are also knock-out curtains and reg. curtains on both windows. She currently has a custom-made inter-spring twin mattress in-place (optional). It has a 4 ft. x 8 ft cabin with 48” inches of headroom. Large twin large cabinets (one w/large lazy Susan and the other w/slide out shelf) combined with front-forward storage provide plenty of places to store, food, clothes, and gear - are located in the back.
ELECTRICAL : Runs - boondock - on a deep-cell 12v marine-grade battery . . which powers all lights, the 12v / 120v TV / DVD / CD player, and the ‘Van-tastic’ 3-speed, reversible ceiling fan, and USB charging ports. When connected to ‘shore power’ - an inverter delivers 120v service to the entire camper. There are several 120v outlets inside. EXTERIOR : the camper is built upon a sturdy steel frame which has been modified for extra rigidity and strength. Both exterior sides are made of unfinished Aluminum roll-stock . . and the top, front and back of the camper are made from anodized Aluminum roll-stock. The sides can be polished (ala Airstream) to a mirror-like finish or painted - there is no sealer or clear coat on them. Trailer frame is 1/8” C-channel steel modified with ¼ inch steel tubing - reinforcing both frame and the front fork assembly. There are also 2 passive stabilizing jacks on the back. Because of its’ light weight, there is no additional braking required. There is also a double-bike hanging rack on the backside of the camper - it is also optional.
WEIGHT : Dry weight is about 700 lbs. Tongue weight is under 100 lbs – so it can be pulled safely by any standard-sized car or light-duty truck. It comes standard with 2- 12” wheels and 2 spares and a spare cover. This model has no galley or toilet which would have reduced the amount of cabin space.
