Vehicle description
Our beloved 2010 Chevrolet 4500 Duramax diesel shuttle bus #camperconversion must go. She will not pass Vermont"s stricter Inspection regulations and our #buslife adventure is on hold for the time being. There is rust, this is an 11 year old vehicle that spent the majority of it"s life in the Central New York area as a working shuttle bus. It is just surface rust that isn"t through anywhere on the frame but there is rust around the passenger door and underneath it"s supports. There is no exhaust, the catalytic converter and everything came up missing after a spending some time outside a garage.
There are 8 new glow plugs in this 2010 LMM Duramax diesel with 162000 miles on it. This is the last year before DEF engines. It is a great running engine and the 6 speed automatic transmission works great. Manual shift on the gear selector is nice as well since this does not have engine brakes.
We acquired it and took out all the seats and the wheelchair lift as well as having a custom tow package installed. This bus had a king size bed with 2 mountain bikes under it, a storage chest, and a Captain"s chair installed for the passenger seat behind the driver. It was used mainly on Interstate travel hauling campers to music festivals on the East Coast. It was always well maintained with synthetic oil changes.
We have no doubt that with this solid engine and trans and the blank canvas inside with the tow package that this is something a welder/mechanic could really creatively use.
