If you are looking for the best school bus for an RV conversion, look no further.
Rear-engine buses are considered better for a number of reasons, including considerably easier access to engine, improved traction on snow or gravel roads, no need for a long heavy driveshaft, and less engine noise in the front.
This school activity bus was bought with a plan to convert it, and I have started, but all the fun stuff remains to be decided. Its a very solid starting point for the next owner. It even has a stainless steel staircase so it is extremely clean. There is no rust anywhere.
With 60,993 miles - all being long-haul highway driving - and a total of 2832 hours engine running time, the 8.3 liter Cummins diesel is hardly broken in. Recently serviced, and recently passed CO emissions with excellent reading values. The engine runs really clean.
Air brakes.
Heaters, lights (interior/exterior), windshield wipers, etc. - all works. There are a few rock chips on front windshield, but the good thing is these can easily be replaced by any truck glass shop - all flat glass so low cost and easy to fit.
Until I bought it in the summer of 2020 it was a one-owner fleet maintained bus (school district in Alabama). In exceptional good condition throughout.
The following work has been completed in my ownership - last 16 months: - brand new heavy duty rear tires (the front tires are still in good condition) - Falken BI 850 truck tires - new RV style solid steel frame door (by Chrome Yellow, Denver) - 2 new truck-style hanging storage boxes (by Chrome Yellow, Denver) - steel floor completely stripped, primed, Rustol painted and all screw and bolt holes patched up - 1" XPS foam insulation on floor, framed, and covered with waterproofed and primed veneer (by Chrome Yellow, Denver) - wheel wells insulated and boxed in with birch veneer - completely flushed out and cleaned diesel tank (100 gal tank), fuel lines and 2 new diesel filters - removed roof/ ceiling mounted AC system, all wiring, piping etc. All holes patched up. - roof covered with 3 coats of Durabak off-white bed liner - bus spray painted with a matte olive drab oil-based paint (Majic Paint Co) - 3 coats - new front mud flaps, new air brake purge valve - complete diagnostic / service by Cummins, re-programmed CPU

Inside measurements: 35" 3" long (floor from the rear to behind drivers seat) and 7" 2" wide. Ceiling height (after insulation): 6" 1"

Open to offers but please keep in mind what has been invested (more than $15,000) in this solid bus when comparing it to other school buses on the market. If you plan to invest in a nice globetrotter schoolie, you"ll be better off with a strong, solid foundation.
