Vehicle description
2006 International 7300 Hotshot Truck RV Overland Conversion
Wow! This rig looks amazing with a fresh paint job and new tires! Originally built to transport smoke jumpers (Hotshots) to forest fires out west, this truck has been meticulously converted to a very capable off-grid RV. Pictured is an International DT466 Diesel on a 7300 chassis. The transmission is automatic (electronic push button). The fuel tank holds 73 gallons. Current mileage is 168,000 miles. Dual air compressors power the air brakes, the Air Ride adjustable cab seats, and the rear suspension air bags. GVWR is 29,000 lbs. On extended trips, our total weight is 23,000 lbs. Length is 25’, width is 8’5” (mirrors folded in), overall height is 11’8” (incl. the antenna). Step up the power rear stairs and into the well-insulated coach. Inside height is 6’1”. Custom-made maple cabinets (Twin Cedars Woodworks) are topped with gorgeous walnut countertops. Ten large screened windows provide great views and ventilation. An automatic MaxxFan Deluxe intake/exhaust ceiling fan is programmable, and can be fully open in the rain or when the vehicle is underway. Real wood flooring is protected with removable, washable FLOR carpet squares. The galley features a Dickinson Marine Caribbean 2-burner gas stove (with auto spark ignition and a broiler), two (2) Indel Webasto Cruise Elegance refrigerators, a Sunbeam 700 watt microwave, and a large sink with pull down faucet/sprayer. All appliances are 100% stainless steel and print-free. Cooktop and sink feature custom cutting boards. An Excel automatic, tankless water heater (vent free) is mounted under the sink. A toaster and Keurig K-Slim coffeemaker round out the galley. All of the above coach amenities can be operated from eight Duracell 6V deep cell batteries wired as 12V (860 amp hours total). 400 watts of adjustable solar panels are mounted on the roof. A 40 amp Solar Charge Controller is mated to an AIMS 3000 watt / 9000watt surge Pure Sine 12V inverter / AC charger. Of course you can plug into campground 30 amp service as well. A twin bed mounted over a huge storage area converts easily to a queen bed. ( We also designed a space to sleep 3). The dining table slides out from under the bed. Seating for four is on padded benches, which conceal more storage. Handmade, insulated curtains provide blackout privacy and temperature control. A 32” Samsung Smart TV is paired with a Winegard RZ-8500 Rayzar automatic HD antenna. It works really well! There are six DC outlets and five 120V outlets in the coach, all of which can run off the batteries. All coach lighting is LED. Immense storage space inside the coach was a driving factor in our purchase of this rig. You can’t find a rig with better storage capability, both inside and outside.
A Dickinson Marine Newport P12000 fireplace easily heats the coach, and is beautiful to behold. Safety features include a flexible stainless steel double-walled vent pipe, allowing fresh air to be pulled from outside the coach through the outer pipe, while exhaust gas leaves the combustion chamber through the inner pipe. The air from inside the coach is not used for combustion, so a fresh air vent is not needed. An inside fresh water tank holds 30 gallons and is powered by a Shurflo water pump and accumulator tank. The fresh water tank above the cab provides 28 gallons of solar heated water for outside showers. On the exterior driver side, you will find the outdoor shower, space for three propane tanks, storage for folding tables and chairs, and a large bin for firewood, saws and axes. The passenger side houses the electrical cabinet, the battery compartment, campground 30 amp hookup, an outdoor Camp Chef 2-burner stove (quick connect to onboard propane), tool drawer and miscellaneous storage. All outside storage is lighted and lockable. A new coat of paint (2021) matches the original US Forest Service green shade still in use today (see last photo). Brand new rear tires (2021) are Firestone 11R22.5 14PR FD663 radials. New heated exterior mirrors were added to provide a better view of typical blind spots. Smoke, LP and carbon monoxide detectors have been installed. Fire extinguishers are mounted in the cab and the coach. A rear ladder was added to allow adjustment of the solar panels. This cab has been regularly serviced and maintained by Tri-State International in Bowling Green, Ky. It runs and drives great with no issues. Cab A/C and heat work well. There is no A/C in the coach, we never had a need for it, but there is plenty of room on the roof, and a spare electrical circuit should you desire to add it. There is no built-in toilet (or black tank!), though there is ample room for a Thetford portable cassette toilet, which is what we used. All service/ purchase receipts and appliance manuals are included with the sale. We have outgrown this awesome rig (grandkids). It"s hard to part with it, but I know the new owner will enjoy it as much as we did. Many RVs being sold today are not built with the same durability, reliability, immense storage space, off-grid capability, simplicity and great looks. You will be asked for a tour everywhere you go. Prime camping season is here. Enjoy it in a truly unique, well-built rig, that comes with a fascinating story. Please don’t hesitate to ask questions. As an engineer, a Christian, and a Marine (Semper Fi!) I stand behind this vehicle. Happy bidding and good luck!
