For sale, Buy It Now or Make Offer. 2006 Imperial TRIPLE AXLE Car hauler. This is a BUMPER HITCH. This is a great trailer for 3/4 ton suburbans, Excursions, etc or for 3/4 and 1 Ton Trucks if there is no gooseneck or fifth wheel capacity. I got this just over a year ago and have hauled plenty with it. I have upgraded to a 40" Gooseneck tandem dually axle trailer and I am selling this one. 39".5" on the deck including the dovetail and 6"10" between the fenders. 2 5/16 ball. I got ambitious a year ago and tried to sand (more like grind) off some surface rust and repaint red (the original color). I got almost half way through before I realized just how LONG this thing really is!
This trailer will easily haul three small cars or two large vehicles. I have hauled limos, hearses and multiple cars on the trailer. Last August, I was pulling the trailer when a right rear tire blew out on my Excursion. Truck and Trailer jackknifed and that was the end of the Excursion. The trailer made it through with minor damage. Mostly the hitch coupler and the fenders. The ramps were getting a bit rusty so I ordered new fenders, new fender supports and corner steps and new ramps and new ramp keepers. That was about $1,000. I also ordered a new jack and hitch coupler and then had it all installed by a professional welder. All in all done, about $2500. Ramps and fenders have been painted black. The trailer will still need wiring where it broke loose from the ball hitch when it twisted around. The brakes worked great prior to accident and there are brakes on all three axles. Axles are 7,000 pound axles with 8 lug/16" wheels and good tires. 21K capacity! One tire is new, all others are good. Again, all axle brakes worked GREAT prior to accident. I have pulled a few loads without brakes and just had to give myself extra stopping distance. I did pull the trailer with a hearse on it from KY to NC. I used add-on lights for safety and used the gears to slow down on hills. Trailer did fine on that long haul. Trailer pulls straight, trails well and doesn"t shake or shimmy.
Yes, it has rusty spots. A person could easily cut out and weld or bolt in some patches but I have not done so. This is one tough trailer. It has handled every load I"ve ever put on it. The frame work under the skin is tough as nails. The trailer itself weighs in at 4500 pounds empty. The right rear dovetail is a little kinked from an improperly loaded car (car frame hit at an odd angle). It is an old repair and has never caused me any issues.
Ramps are 6" slide out ramps. Add that to a 5" dovetail and you"ve got easy loading for even the lowest of cars with extended front bumpers. Fairly easy to maneuver if you plan ahead.
Brand new these are in the $12K range. Like I said, I upgraded to a 40" deck over gooseneck and I will not be using this one anymore.
It has a clear title in my name from Kentucky. I"m trying to be reasonable on price because I know this is not a perfect trailer. I also know this length in a bumper pull with three heavy duty axles doesn"t come along very often. You can easily spend $3000 on a trailer half this length.
