Vehicle description
HERE WE HAVE A NICE 2005 PETERBILT 379 SHORT HOOD DAY CAB TANDEM AXLE TRACTOR FOR REPAIR.
It has the Pre-Emission C-15 Electronic Cat engine, 18-Spd. Trans. Pete Low Leaf air ride, and a dual wetline kit that was just installed last Summer.
The truck was upset lightly on the driver side. It has damage to the cab, fender, headlight and hood side panel. The hood is very repairable and the grille is fine but the cab will need replaced or replace the panels on the left side and a day cab kit installed along with a roof cap. The door will need replaced as well as the fender, breather, mirror, stack, battery box cover, front bumper, etc. There is no damage that we can see to the engine or drive train and the frame is not bent. The truck starts right up and drives and even the radiator is still full.
The truck shows 781,000 miles but the West Virginia title will say not required.
It has all new batteries and a new starter that was just installed. The engine was rebuilt last September and according to the owner has around 40,000 miles before it got wrecked in May. It sounds and runs great and still carries 60 lbs of oil pressure when hot and doesn"t show any leaks. The truck came from Georgia so it is clean with just a few small rust spots around the frame but nothing like up North.
Overall a pretty decent truck to fix and not that hard for any qualified shop. If you have a used cab it will make it easier yet. The truck is used and I am sure there will be some other things that will be needed. The tires are average and a couple of them are mismatched. The wheels are scratched some but I think they will polish out and it looks like the rear suspension bushings are worn so figure on doing them as well.
The truck will have a repairable West Virginia Salvage Title so this will require an inspection in your state before registration.
As with any wrecked vehicle it is being sold AS-IS and the buyer is responsible for shipping.
Please look at all the pictures by clicking on the first one to supersize it and read the description and feel free to e-mail with any questions. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. Sincerely, Ted Davis
