Vehicle description
Are you planning on doing some Winter camping but don"t feel like staying in a cold, wet tent? If you"d rather enjoy the great outdoors in a warm and cozy cabin on wheels then this is the van for you.Up for sale is my 2004 Chevrolet Express 2500 4.8L V8 Long Wheelbase RWD, converted into a campervan. If you"re looking for something stealthy, this is the van for you. It will blend in perfectly in urban areas. Great for stealth camping and van dwelling in the city. This van used to be used for carpet installation and received quite a few dings and scratches during its service life. However, as part of a service fleet it received regular maintenance by its previous owners.I bought it at 200,000 miles and gave the engine a thorough service to ensure it will run another 200K.Mechanically, the van received:- New Spark Plugs- New Serpentine Belt- Full Synthetic oil change (changed every 3K miles since)- New Transmission fluid and filter, plus gasket check- 4L80E Transmission inspected, looks great (same transmission that"s in the Humvee, they"re bulletproof)- Added External Transmission Cooler- New Air Filter- Coolant Flush- New Brake pads and Rotors- New Toyo tires (16K miles on them now)The camper conversion inside the van includes:- Cedar wood paneling (doesn"t warp with humidity change, strong, and smells great)- Full insulation w/ moisture barrier- Rear pop out windows from the passenger version of the van for improved ventilation- Maxxfan rooftop exhaust vent (can be open while driving, long cowl allows it to be open during the rain)- Durable laminate flooring- Sound deadening tape applied to panels for reduced wind noise- Carbon Monoxide alarm- Battery powered Puck and String lights- A collapsible bed frame with storage space underneath- Closet with coatrack, small desk space, and shelving (professionally built by my carpenter friend)- A kitchen counter with multilevel storage space underneath.- Custom blackout curtains w/ velcro mounting stripsGear which will also be included with the van:- Camp stove (Butane/ Propane) and some cooking utensils- Ice chest (keeps ice frozen for 3 days)- 7 gallon water jug- Collapsible firepit- Reliance camp toilet with disposal bags- Plastic storage bins- Traction boards- Large sunshade for windshield- Mesh window covers (keeps out bugs when front windows are rolled down)Other quality of life items include:- Bluetooth radio head-unit and new speakers- LED headlights (DoT legal for on-road use)- Curt Class 4 Tow hitch 2" receiver- New dual mirror rearview mirrors from newer model Express vans (so you can see your blind spots)- Locking gas cap- Window rainguard (passenger only, driver side fell off)- Maximum legal tint on the front side windows, adds privacy and helps keep the van cool in the summer- AC blows cold, heater blows hotBelieve it or not, I did try and make the van look a little better. New centercaps, repainting a faded front bumper, and replacing lots of internal trim pieces from Pick-n-Pull donor cars. This van rides very comfortably. I"ve put down 500 miles a day in this van without getting sore. It rides smooth, but with its high ground clearance it can get to any remote campsite that a comparable 2wd pickup truck can. While you may be apprehensive about buying a van with 200,000 miles on the clock, I can assure you this van is tip top shape mechanically. The LS based Vortec Chevy small block is a very strong engine known for its reliability, and paired to the 4L80-E transmission, you have a bulletproof powertrain.Passed California inspection & emissions SMOG test on 9/27 with flying colors. The mechanic running the diagnostic commented on how good of shape it"s in for 200K miles. I am confident it will easily pass inspection in any state.Note that there is no built in plumbing or electricity. All water comes from the refillable 7 gallon jug and power from an external Jackery battery bank (not included with van).If you want a fairly inexpensive way to camp anywhere, and stay warm, cozy, and dry while doing it, this is the rig for you. This camper would be ideal for a solo camper or a close couple. It"s pretty much ready to go camping as it is, only thing you need is a new mattress and a portable power station battery.I absolutely love this van and have used it extensively, taking it on a 4 month, 14,000 mile roadtrip across the US. It preformed beautifully, from interstates to Forest Service dirt roads and everything in between. I even used it to move across the country. It easily handled towing my car for 1500 miles.I would love to keep it, but I recently moved and have nowhere to keep it.Asking $10,995 OBOPlease feel free to message me with any questions you may have. Happy camping!Tags: Econoline Camper 1500 3500 Promaster Sprinter RV Transit
