Vehicle description
2001 AM General M1045A2 HMMWV H1 Hummer Up for sale is my American General M1045A2 Factory Slantback with approximately 4,000 miles I bought this truck on 11/1/2017 through IronPlanet, from the Albany, Georgia US Marine Corps Logistics Base, where my buddy was stationed and working.
The truck is in great shape with many new parts, USGI surplus to the greatest extent possible. The truck has proven to be reliable on longer road trips and in city driving without issue. I have driven the truck on several 1-1/2+ hour road trips across the state of Georgia at a continuous 70+ mph with minimal driver input. I work in Atlanta and drive the truck to the office in the summer heat through hectic rush hour. The truck is stored in a garage when not driven and has only been in the rain a couple times, since my ownership.
The truck interior “smells” new due to NOS MRAP high back seats and NOS insulation. Prior to reinstalling the seats and thermal insulation, rubberized self-adhering sound deadening material was installed. The turret plate was removed, resealed, and reinstalled and the gunner platform removed. “Military looking” overhead and on-tunnel consoles were fabricated and installed, which include toggle switches, VIC-1 radio control boxes and headsets, Bluetooth stereo controller and speakers (overhead) and storage, ammo box openings, 12V and USB power receptacles (on-tunnel). The truck rides on 20” Mickey Thompson Deegan 38 wheels and Toyo Open Country tires.
Truck features: - “Real” factory slantback, not a fabricated copy - Factory/ Military X-doors with Supplemental Armor (2 layer) skins - A2 updates, including larger brakes, serpentine belt system, larger motor and upgraded transmission - 6.5L NA diesel - 4L80e 4 speed transmission with overdrive and park - 4 crewman seating - USMC MAK plating was previously installed by the USMC, but was removed during decommissioning - Registered as a 5-door truck - Georgia on-road tag with removable plate holder - Georgia title in hand Many of the new parts that have been installed since my ownership include: - Tan CARC substitute coating applied 2019(looks good @ 5 feet, so some wear) - Green CARC substitute coating applied in 2019to some of the interior - Black industrial paint on other exterior surfaces - NOS Red Dot air conditioner system - NOS (4) MRAP high back bucket seats - NOS 3-point seat belts - NOS sound and thermal insulation - NOS seatback Molle panels - NOS Airlift rear bumper, shackles, hitch receiver, and mud flaps - NOS door window frames and 3/8” glazing - NOS (2) front brake calipers and pads. The rear brake pads have material, but chatter slightly, at times - NOS power steering pump/ reservoir, hoses, high pressure lines/ fittings - NOS fan control solenoid - NOS 200A generator/ alternator regulator - NOS serpentine belt - NOS LED headlights, running lights and housings, turn signals and buckets, and blackout light - NOS reflectors and trim rings - NOS windshield gaskets - NOS doghouse gasket - NOS rear hatch and antenna base gaskets - NOS hood latches - NOS windshield hinge pins - NOS heater core - NOS heater/ fan and A/C ducting - NOS (2) dash fans (new, but rotary switches are finicky) - NOS rear bumper mounted USMC fire extinguisher cabinet. Insulated compartment - NOS interior door latches (front) - NOS wiper arms and new blades - NOS steering column turn signal - NOS AS-3900A/VRC antenna, antenna, and mounts(on truck). - USGI VIC-1 radio, including (2) AM-1780 control panels, C-2298 and C-10456 Control Boxes, headsets, extra ear cushions, cables(radio pieces were bought, as functional, but operation is not reliable) - New (2) Optima yellow top batteries - New Mickey Thompson 20” Deegan 38 wheels and locking lug nuts - New Toyo Open Country 37x12.50Rx20LT tires - New window anti-rattle seals and felts - New door straps/ limiters - New hinged Jerry can holder and 3 NOS USGI 5gallon water cans - New H1 style exterior mirrors - New backup camera, integrated into bumper - New overhead light bar and two LED light assemblies - New (2) overhead console mounted interior LED convenience lights - New (2) rear bumper mounted LED backup lights - New Bluetooth stereo and (4) speakers in overhead console - New door handles with keyed locks - Several manuals Many new services include: - Two engine oil and filter changes - Fuel treatment used regularly - Complete power steering system flush and fill - Brake fluid flush and fill - Multiple chassis lubrications - Hub (4) oil change - Antifreeze flush and fill Many additional (major) parts include: - Original (4) steel wheel and Goodyear tires - Original (4) high back bucket seats - Original trailer pintel - Most of the “original” take-off parts that were replaced with new - Some new parts that were purchased, but not used, including additional radio components, antenna, seat belts, power parts, hoses, brakes pads, shocks, glow plugs, wires, additional AC components, and many more.
If you haven’t checked recent surplus government auctions, HMMWV prices have risen considerably, including many trucks that are missing major components and/ or not running. While decent trucks are still headed to auction, recent M1045A2 sales for "better" trucks include: a 2002 for $23,800, a 2003 for $21,200, and a 2002 for $25,800 without taxes and fee. All three were "missing" $5K+ of doors. Plus, auction buyers need to consider potentially purchasing a surety bond and titling costs. The cost to purchase an auction truck, add doors, and get it ready for the street could top $35K.
I don’t believe you could buy and build a similar truck for the cost of this listing, especially when you add the upgrades, improvements, NOS/ new parts, labor, and thousands of dollars in additional parts and pieces that are included.
This is my personal truck and it’s driven almost weekly, so actual mileage and hours will change. The above mileage is accurate (to the best of my knowledge) at the time of listing. All statements are made with the knowledge that I have been provided and what I have observed since purchase. There is no guarantee to the vehicle’s actual miles, hours, condition, or fitness of use.
B uyer will be required to sign a hold harmless agreement. Buyer understands that this truck lacks many common safety features found incurrent production vehicles. All risk of ownership is borne by the Buyer. By bidding, Buyer agrees to indemnify and hold harmless Seller to the fullest extent allowed by law. Further, Buyer accepts all liability for Ownership. This truck is being sold as-is where-is with absolutely no warranties implied or expressed.
Pickup in NW Atlanta, Georgia. You will need a large truck or trailer to take all the additional parts. They will not fit inside the HMMWV. I will accept a wire transfer for payment.
