Vehicle description

For your consideration, a partially converted skoolie currently located in Philadelphia, PA (just drove it there from Asheville and had no problems on the drive).
A 1998 Bluebird bus with 33k actual miles purchased from the Talladega, AL school district in October of 2019. I have spent some 2000 hours converting this bus over the past year and have decided that is not for me. The hard work is one. The interior needs some finish and a polish. This would be a great project for someone with some kitchen remodeling skills looking to get on the road in the next few months or just flip the bus for profit with some nice interior work. No cosmetic or functional deficiencies aside from a crack in the passenger windshield.
About the bus: 26’ long with a clearance of 11’. You will encounter no issues on any major roads in the US. There was no undercarriage rust due to it being an Alabama bus.
5.9 Diesel engine with Allison 545. If you read on the Internet you will find people telling you to avoid this combination and they might have a point on a 40’ bus, but I can hit 70 mph on flat and feel completely in control.
Recent coolant flush, all new marker and caution lights. 6 flood lights, 2 on each side, 2 in the rear. Backup camera with possibility for a 2nd camera if wanted. Recent oil change
1460 watts of solar with a 5k victron inverter, victron charge controller, mid nite solar components. 50 amp shore power input. Custom welded battery box. NOTE: 50 amp inlet and power works and solar is wired through to the combiner box, but the wiring needs to be finished to go off grid.
14” roof raise, reskin, and paint with 2 rv windows. 24” Marine hatch in rear above bed that accesses 8x8 cedar deck above. Cedar folding side table on driver’s side. Regular house door with custom welded frame that takes standard door sizes for easy interchangeability.
Floating subfloor with 2” of XPS insulation and 3/4” of plywood. 2-3” of spray foam insulation on walls and ceiling. Pioneer mini split a/c unit/heat pump installed above bed.
New air ride seat.
1/4” ply walls and ceiling for a mid century modern look.
NOW. You can see that I put a lot of work into this. However, earlier this year funds started to run out due to my business closing due to covid and I had to move into the bus before I finished. The interior lacks the finish and polish that I put into the outside and components of the build.
It has a working fridge, working power (though currently only running on one outlet), a 20 gallon propane tank mounted with access door (currently tack welded shut) and a propane stove, but they are not hooked together yet. A nice sink that is uninstalled. No bathroom or shower. 2 100 gallon water tanks also mostly uninstalled.
As stated, this would be a great project for someone who can do a kitchen and bath remodel, as the interior is all that really needs to be finished.
I am am motivated seller with clean RV title in hand.
Happy to give tours to anyone in the area. All work performed by a DIYer.
If bidding, please make sure you can make arrangements to pick up by weekend of March 6th at the latest.
