Vehicle description
1997 Safari Sahara 3044
This is one of the nicest examples of a classic Safari. We brought this RV from the West Coast meaning that it has not be covered in snow/ice/salt its whole life. It clearly has been well taken care of since it was purchased brand new. We wanted a Safari because of their cult-like following (lots of good folks to help each other) and the fact that it has aluminum skin (no rust) with a full body paint. It has a 300 HP Caterpillar 3126 that is incredibly powerful and coupled nicely with an Allison World Transmission. In addition, the Onan generator has a little over 300 hours of use on it.
When we purchased the RV we knew there were a few things we wanted to do right off the bat. To include:
(6) brand new tires - Approximately 500 miles on them Repaired dash air conditioning system Serviced CAT engine Serviced Allison transmission Serviced Onan propane generator New filters for generator/engine/transmission New cover for bathroom vent fan New a/c shroud New pistons for all lift cargo doors (no more holding up the cargo doors) Replaced marker lights with LED bulbs Greased/lubed wearable items such as steps
We also completely remodeled the interior to update it more to our taste. We used Behr cabinet paint and did about three coats. We painted the walls throughout with proper primer and paint and use sheets as covers for the couch and chairs (cheap and washable). We covered the window covers with fabric to freshen it up a bit. The table comes with two additional leafs for additional seating. We also painted the refrigerator with chalk paint and would usually write our destination on it! Please note: we are not professional painters but it certainly brought the interior up-to-date quite nicely. The seats, steering wheel, dash, and driver"s area is also in excellent shape with little to no wear at all.
Tripod hydraulic leveling system (2) Rooftop air conditioners Automatic electric steps (4) Awnings Cruise control High-idle control button 90 gallon fuel tank Propane generator w/ low hours Power/heated mirrors Forward entry door (not mid-door) Digital antenna Loud radio with speakers throughout RV 2014 Magnum inverter/converter Fully serviced! !
The RV is equipped with a PAC brake and cruise control and is extremely comfortable to drive. EVERYTHING works on this RV and it has been a blast for us to use. It has just over 100k miles and will continue to go up slightly as we go on short ventures and trips. Please read up on these RVs if you are unfamiliar with them and you will find a lot of great information on them. The servicing of this RV was done by Cleveland Brothers Caterpillar and all receipts are filed on board. There was no manual when we purchased the RV but we have started an extensive binder that is great help. If you have any questions please let me know and thank you for viewing this RV.
Please note: The RV is 21 years old and is not a show car. It has flaws in the paint from age (flaking, clear coat fading in some spots, etc.). Everything works as it should on this RV and we just got back from an 800 mile round trip from Pittsburgh to Delaware with no issues. Also, we only used 3/4 of a tank of diesel which is pretty impressive for such a large vehicle. I will happily take any additional videos/photographs for anyone interested. Price is firm.
