Vehicle description
“Building their first recreational vehicles in 1974, Canadian-based Roadtrek has grown into a successful and recognized nameplate. Roadtrek’s business centers on Class B motorhomes or van campers designed to comfortably sleep people in well-equipped living quarters. “
This is the desirable 170 model, smallest vehicle in the line, and, at 17 feet, easiest of all Roadtreks to maneuver through traffic and park in tight quarters. It is based on the Dodge 2500 standard van and has the respected 318 V8.
Standard equipment with the 170 series are captains seats , closets, sink, propane stove, refrigerator (inop), shower and toilet (small), quality hardwood cabinets and a rear dining area that converts to a sleeping area for two. And there’s a hot air furnace, roof vent, water systems, and a TV shelf. It also has two great options — the rear AC air-conditioning unit and the awning
Look up some of the Roadtrek owner sites on the web and you see how people use them — everything from cross country jaunts to day trips. I’m a fan of the Florida State Parks and have been using it short trips. The van runs strong, but I would urge you to consider it as a work in progress. Shortly after buying it two years ago, the engine blew a head gasket. I have had several Dodge 318 v8s throughout the years (in other vans) and they are a strong motor. So I made the decision to put a used motor in the car (90K) and the replacement motor has been running fine ever since. And, yes, the AC works. Have driven about 4000 miles with no issues.
Last year the automatic transmission gave up. I had it rebuilt at a local shop. Yes I have receipts. Oh, and it has a new catalytic converter. So someone still needs to got through the basic RV systems to use this as a camper van. I now realize that this person is not me. This year, I’m determined to shorten my projects lists not add to them. For this motorhome, here are the top priorities:
Repair the cover for the driver’s side storage compartment. See photo. Repair or replace captains chairs. They are not locking. I was going to look for something a bit nicer anyway. Replace roof vent, etcetera, etcetera …….
I’m sure I won’t remember everything, so this is a daily driver that needs someone who is a good mechanic to bring her back. Knowledge of RV systems would be a definite plus. Title in hand, sitting in sunny Florida, and just needs a caring owner. 147,000 indicated miles, 318 v8, car is in Sebring, Florida. You tell me what it is worth. REGARDING ALL THOSE QUESTIONS ABOUT TRANSPORTING THE VAN: Based on everything you and I both know, why run the risk? I would try to find a trailer that would hold it or, have it shipped. Broken down on the side of the road is a lot less fun than it used to be. . uship bidding can be very competitive.
REMEMBER: By bidding, you are confirming that you agree to the terms and conditions below. Guaranteed authentic, description is accurate, but sold as is- this is an auction, all sales final. The only exception is if I have not described the item accurately. Winning bidder pays a $1000 deposit by Paypal within 24 hours. Balance will be due in cash (no checks of any kind) upon pickup which need to be done in the following two weeks.
