Vehicle description
1997 Ford E150 Econoline Conversion Van for Parts or possible Rebuild Project Vehicle . This vehicle needs work to be roadworthy; did not pass inspection ( see pictures for image of Garage"s assessment) . Don"t buy unless using for parts or willing to invest in making it roadworthy. This is not a buy and drive vehicle!. Most importantly according to my garage, it needs frame rust repair in front to pass inspection.
A shame to retire it since it has only 106,000 mostly commuting/highway miles (I became second owner about 18 years ago when it had 47,000 miles). M ost everything works, and the interior is in good shape. I know nothing about frame repair- some knowledgeable person with good judgement needs to examine this van to determine the alternatives. Parting-out may be the only practical alternative.
The Engine/Trans seem fine (wires and coils recently replaced); replaced steering column with used one; one tire needs replacement-others some life left; new battery. Definitely needs brake work. I had a single car accident when road debris took out my control arm - slid along guard rail - front end and body repairs made. Needs new paint. Body mostly sound, however there are some very bad lower rust spots (see pics). Has tow package - previous owner towed a boat; I did not tow.
Interior very good (except for a few small holes and rips in foam wall covering and carpet cleaning needed- see pictures); 4 captains chairs; rear bench seat converts automatically to a double bed (motor and both front and rear operating switches work); all seats have working seat belts; 6-way power driver seat; driver & passenger front air bags; tilt wheel; cruise; AM/FM radio & tape- all controls work, except deck); VHS player and TV never used by me; side and back door windows close/lock mechanisms work; heat/AC work; rear heat/AC vent works; all wiper/washer functions work; both side mirrors adjust remotely.
Selling because of van"s low mileage for its age, mostly working parts (including engine and transmission), and good internal condition (all seats, including driver"s with power adjustment and convertible bench seat/bed with power up/down are ready to sell). Again, I don"t know whether the frame rust is repairable or not. For an experienced mechanic it may possible to get a good conversion van at a reasonable cost, but I"m only guessing. I"m willing for you to have a mechanic evaluate the van at your cost. Contact me with any questions or if you want the Carfax report or more pics.
