Vehicle description
I used this bus for 7 years, touring my band back and forth across the country. I put over 100,000 miles on it. We were about to go on tour in April and then COVID cancelled touring. It will be years before touring happens so if this bus is left to sit and rot it will become useless so I"ll try to sell it.
200,000 miles.
Cummins 5.9 with Allison Transmission and Air Brakes. RV conversion includes shore power with a 50 amp circuit (inverter died, needs a new one), 2 swamp coolers, back up cameras, and has bunks to sleep 10. (we were a big group) no bathroom.
It has the typical surface rust on the undercarriage you"d expect from a decade in Michigan, none of it near a problem. I took it in for regular tune ups and oil changes and service all its life and my trusted mechanic has kept it in good shape and has told me there is no problem with rust on this vehicle. I"ve toured with it forever, look up super happy funtime burlesque and you"ll see we"ve been everywhere in it. I could not have taken this bus everywhere if it was not in mechanically sound shape.
This bus is a MONSTER. Again, I have visited every landlocked state in the US 5-10 times with it. It has had its share of breakdowns and here"s a taste of what was replaced on it in our 7 years of touring:
Head Gasket Radiator Knuckles Kingpins Leaf Springs Alternator All 6 tires Exhaust, front to back Air filter (uses a strange one who"s housing was built in japan, very hard to find, i found one) Brakes all belts, ALL BELTS
whats broken: the starter. Starter motor turns but will not fire up the engine. All our attempts at getting the starter to work has killed the batteries, needs new batteries now as well.
And since the starter is broken no one can start it or will believe me that everything else about it is fine. So I"m trying to sell it for next to nothing before my regular mechanic, of all its 7 years, chops it up and we part it out and sell the engine and the tires; which we know we"ll get good money for.
Would love to see someone buy this and continue to have amazing adventures on it, its just the freaking starter. But its not worth it for me to tow it and get the starter fixed cuz if I tow it I"m just chopping it to bits and parting out the many good parts inside it.
This is my last attempt to get a buyer. Goodbye, red rocket, you treated us well.
