Vehicle description
Here we go again. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE only bid, if you intend to buy it. NO RESERVE - BID TO WIN! I"m tired of games, scams and excuses.
This is a 1996 F-350 XLT cab & chassis with Horton ambulance body. 70,437 actual miles. It has the the legendary 7.3 Powerstroke diesel. It runs great and has plenty of power. I purchased it from a city 3 1/2 hours away and drove it home. The drivetrain is in great condition. Engine starts very easy, spools up nicely with lots of power. Transmission shifts perfect. The brakes work like they are supposed to. The cruise control, power windows and power locks work. It has a giant alternator and also an onboard battery charger.
The things that I noticed need attention is the steering. The front end shakes at high speeds. I jacked up the front end and wiggled things around and the drivers side upper ball joint has play in it. Most of the other components seemed tight, but it possibly might need more than just a ball joint. It"s perfectly drivable to get it home. The other thing i noticed is that the air conditioning is NOT blowing cold. Also, the voltmeter on the dash looks like it"s charging very low, but I put my volt/ohm meter on it while running and it"s charging over 14 volts, so I think the guage is just not reading correctly on the dash.
The body is in really good condition, with the exception of the rearmost door on the ambulance body, on the passenger side and it"s the original 24 year old paint. I took a couple close ups so you can see the extent. In my opinion, a reputable body shop could easily fix the door. The bottom of the cab does not have much rust - it"s very solid. The oil pan is in good condition too. It"s in far better condition than most midwest trucks of this vintage.
Also I noticed from crawling around, it has helper air bags under the spring suspension in the rear.
Fly into Cleveland Hopkins and drive it home - I can pick you up from the airport. Cash preferred. It must be paid for prior to pickup. If paying by check - it must clear before you can take the truck (which can take over a week), so Cash is best.
